Can’t finish it.....
Ok so I like most of the books I’ve read from this author but I just can’t finish this one. I made it to chapter 19 before calling it quits. I also skipped a few pages because I can’t focus. Too many run on sentences that I can’t keep track of who is saying what. The main lady, Annika, is a whiny, proud and extremely annoying person. Her sister, Bailey is worse! What kind of 13 year old has such a nasty way of being? I found myself getting actually pissed off anytime Bailey, or Annika and even their mother said anything. Only thing I liked about the short amount of time I spent in this book is Grady and Sue the goat. Sorry, but this is a big no for me.

Don’t waste your time or money on this one
It took me 3 days to finish this book and I skipped a good chunk of it. It spent to much time inside the characters thoughts and there was not enough dialogue. In fact, most of the time a character would ask someone a question and you would have to read 2/3 pages before it was answered. I found myself having to go back to find out what the question was on a few occasions. Four whole chapters were spent on Grady trying to teach Annika how to bake cookies. This scene really needed FOUR CHAPTERS? The book was tedious, disappointing and only mildly funny.

Is their love just a decadent secret, or could they be more?
Master Baker is a stand alone romance with some familiar characters here and there if your familiar with any of Ms. Grant’s books. Annika and Grady used to best friends in high school, but now they’re bitter enemies in the bakery world. But as their rivalry heats up, so does the chemistry between them. Is it possible to find their happy ending, or is their love just a decadent secret? This book is full of laughs, some emotional ups and downs, passion for baking and each other, and I really enjoyed every moment I spent with this couple! My heart hurt for them a lot, as they had this competing bakeries between their budding relationship and rekindled friendship. But I was also smiling so hard at times due to their banter, their reactions, and above all, their love! Annika tries so hard and is the type of person to put her whole life on hold to help those she loves, even if it’s something she hates, like baking. Grady has such a huge heart, and I loved the steps he was willing to go to help Annika succeed, even if it was part of a lie to just make more money. I loved them together! I loved all of their interactions and the way the side characters (like Sue!) brought so much into the storyline and I just fell in love with Annika and Grady!

These two absolutely scorch the pages of this story.
This is truly a love story of true soul mates. Annika and Grady. Annika is from small town named Sarcasm and Grady is from Pirates Cove. They are always in competition with one another. Grady has been in love with Annika since high school. Anika has also loved Grady but she didn't show it. After High School Anika left for 10 years in the army and is now back home. Grady is just coming to realize how much he is truly love Annika. Now he has to go after the love of his life and hope he can make her feel the same.Grady is a Master Baker and runs his own Bakery. Annika's mother owns her own bakery in Sarcasm and it's called Duh-nuts. Sad part is that Annika's poor mom recently lost her sight so she is relying on Annika and her 13 year old sister to run their bakery. But Annika is not a baker. She is known to burn water. To make things interesting both Grady and Annika agree to a competition between the two bakeries. The town's get involved and help grow the businesses. This is such a fun read. There are lots of twists and turns. you will absolutely love this story.

Yes Please!
Sue! He’s a goat...he was a pretty important part of the story! 😂 Pippa can sure put a smile on my face. If you love goats, crazy humor, dirty talk, and pastries, then you have met your match! Master Baker was a laugh out loud, sexy read!Grady’s life was his bakery, his secret - make the baked goods feel loved. But when his first love waltzed back into town, would there be enough to go around?Annika moved back after years away; her family needed her and she didn’t hesitate. But when she came face to face with her past, she quickly became the enemy. Would she ever get her happily ever after?Honestly, Pippa has a crazy sense of humor but it totally works. If I’m not shaking my head, I’m laughing out loud. Grady and his dirty talk, oh my! I’d be a pastry any day for him!

Food for the heart!
Love at first bite! Grady and Annika have been best friends and secretly in love with each other since age 14. Grady realized this and asked Annika to wait for him until he graduated from culinary school. But Annika had plans to join the Army and show the world she was more than just the first daughter of a teenage unwed mother. Ten years later, she comes back to help her blind mother open a bakery in Sarcasm, rival city to Shipwreck where Grady has his bakery. Start with hurt feelings from past misunderstandings, add in snarky little sister Bailey, Grady’s colorful family, his Pop’s naughty parrot and Grady’s goat Sue and let the hilarity begin! A highly publicized bake-off between the two enemy bakeries (whose owners are hiding their reconciliation and love affair) ensues! All the relatives and citizens of both towns get involved, along with guest appearances by (of course) the Bergers and a few other Pippa greats. Follow the bakery competition to see who is truly the master baker. Laugh, cry and may all taste buds win!

Superior romance writing
Grady Rock is honestly the hero that I yearn for in books. He is a MASTER BAKER for goodness sake! He has also been in love with just one woman since the age of 14. He loves his family, his hometown of Shipwreck and doing the right thing.Annika Williams is a heroine who is loyal, loving and in love with the boy she left behind at age 18 to join the army. She comes back to the neighbouring town of Sarcasm to care for he suddenly blind mother and 13 year old sister. She is tasked with opening a rival bakery, making her Grady's enemy. Except, this pair are meant to be together.Despite both towns and families conspiring to keep them as rivals and bitter enemies, Grady and Annika are destined to be together and nothing is going to stop them, including cake related disasters! This was caketastic from beginning to end. I drooled over the food descriptions. I swooned over the romance of Grady going all out to claim his forever woman.I felt an emotional kinship with Annika, I loved the way she finally admitted to herself that Grady was her always man. This particular Pippa Grant had less laughter, more angst but I loved this switch up. Madcap antics are always welcome but gut wrenching storylines are to be embraced too. This book shows that Pippa has real range in her writing. Recommended to infinity❤

A must read.
Pippa Grant writes my kind of crazy reads. She creates stories where the reality of life and expectations take a back seat and nothing but camaraderie, family and humour rule the day.How could you not love a modern day Romeo and Juliet story based in the towns of Shipwreck and Sarcasm? Where the local plumbing company is called No Sh*t and the donut bakery Duh-Nuts.I couldn’t pinpoint which character I loved more, but Bailey, Annika’s teenage sister had some cracking comebacks. One of my favourites after the baseball to poor Grady’s family jewels was “If she’d been trying, we’d still be out there scavenging for his little swimmers.”

Disappointed
I liked the idea of this book, it had a lot of potential but for me it just didn't work.If you like eye rolling innuendos, bad jokes and exaggerated sarcasm then you are in luck because this is overfilled with them all.And of course we add in the wierd sidekick goat and foul-mouthed parrot, cringe-worthy grandparents and a female lead with absolutely zero personality.I think the book dragged on for far too long, I skipped quite a lot of it and yet didn't miss anything! It just didn't work for me I'm afraid.

Love. Love. Love.
You can never go wrong with a Pippa Grant book!! Her stories will make you laugh, like out loud full on belly laugh, she will make your heart hurt, a lot, but most of all she will make you love love, a whole hell of a lot. This story of Grady and Annika will make you feel all of that and more. Plus Sue the goat will have you laughing your socks off and you will constantly be in the mood for all the sweet things. I'm talking cakes and muffins and donuts, or should I say Duh-Nuts, ALL the sweet things.Absolutely recommended.

Another brilliant Pippa Grant book!
I'm not sure how to describe this author's books in general and this one in particular. It's full of silly stuff that should be distracting and not work - but it does.I think the story at the heart of it, the stuff the characters go through and feel, how real they are, is enhanced by hilarious side characters - including animals - and situations. You come out on the other side of the book in a daze and just wanting more! Thankfully every book delivers and with a vast cast of quirky people you can't help yourself from hoping they'll all get their own books!Highly recommended for all the laughs and all the feels.
