Q: Does this put any strain in neck muscles when doing ab exercises?

Not at all. My abs were a little soar but that means its working. But there was no strain on my back or neck. Hope this helps!

Well, it really depends on body condition, this ab workout equipment actually make you do sit-ups easier.
