MSD82428 Blaster Coil-on-Plug, (Set of 8)

Fantastic coils...never a misfire anymore. Bought the cheaper no name coils before these, they began failing after about 18 months.

Being familiar with MSD products, I had confidence going in and knew these would work out well for my 5.4L Ford engine. Throttle response is better, as well as mid-range and top end power. Definitely and upgrade over the OEM stock COP.UPDATE July 2020. One of these COPs threw a code on my vehicle, and so I needed a replacement. Because Amazon's return window closes 30-days after purchase, I contacted the factory to get warranty coverage. The factory wanted the defective item back to test it, and only upon their findings of a defect would they ship out a new one. Pulling the defective part and sending out would have effectively disabled the vehicle for weeks until the replacement part arrived. This is their policy when items are not purchased directly. Unacceptable. I offered to pay for a replacement up front and return the defective one once I swapped it out so the vehicle would not be disabled, but they would not agree to that. After much unnecessary arguing, they agreed to send out a replacement up front, and claimed they were making a "one-time exception". What kind of ridiculous policy is it to obfuscate a warranty claim like this just because it was purchased through a third party!!?

-These were purchased for a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis LS PrecisionTrac 4.6L 281 C.I.D. SOHC Modular 8-Cylinder Engine-After this purchase, I am a firm believer in the superiority of MSD applications. I will never stray from the use of MSD products, if they are applicable in the necessary repair.I purchased these to perform a regular maintenance tune-up at 100,000 miles. I never had a misfire issue after installation, but did notice an increased throttle response after installation. These MSD Performance Grade Coil-On-Plug Ignition Coils, have a heightened level of performance that can indefinitely be felt while using a higher grade of gas (I always used 93 Octane while running these ignition coils). Replacement of all spark plugs (using OE or higher quality) and ignition coils at the same time is highly recommended to avoid future engine misfire-related issues. Also recommended, is the use of dielectric grease on spark plug threads, as well as the ignition coil boots to prevent corrosion, sticking boots, and to aid in future removal of spark plugs, as the grease lubricates the threads, resulting in an easy removal of the plug.

I am a owner of a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis which recently started misfiring from the 13 year old OEM Ignition coils. After doing some price hunting I was lead to MSD Ignition coils. I am usually reluctant about buying aftermarket ignition products; but after so many ford/mercury enthusiasts I know raving about this brand; I decided to try it out instead of buying new set of 8 OEM or those cheap brand ones.So as normal, I disconnected the old coils and took them out; put these ones in (The red really complements the black engine compartment); then fired the car up. I immediately noticed that the idle was soft; it hummed a lot better. So I reconnected the air intake (Mine has to come off when I replace the left side ignition coils); put everything back on and gave it a drive. Not only did my Horsepower come back; but it even feels like it gives an extra kick due to the slightly higher voltage that the spark plugs yield.Also; MSD includes a Emissions sticker for California owners so they can prove to their picky state that these coils are 50-state legal. These people really know what they are doing. I highly recommend these coils.

Bought these for my 4.6L Eddie Bauer in 2009 from Amazon and worked great until several weeks ago. My mechanic suggested I replace with original equipment parts. I called Amazon CS and they replaced the full set under Lifetime Warranty. Worth every penny, superior performance by MSD and especially Amazon.
