The Rainbow Salad Songbook, V. U. Level J: Unicorn Songs and Activities for Late Primer Piano Students (Andrea and Trevor Dow's Very Useful Piano Library)

This book has been so much fun to teach through this summer! My students are loving the storyline of the unicorn losing his colors because he ate too much junk food and how he slowly gains back his colors as he adds more healthy food to his diet.It's the perfect combination of activities, worksheets and music that allows students to review what they've already learned but with fun engaging materials! It's also a nice sidestep for summer, so students have something fun and new aside from traditional method books during the school year. This book is for students who are in a late Primer method book or Primer 3 in the Wunderkeys series.If you are teacher, the Dows offer extended support for teaching through not only this book and the others in this series (The Very Useful Library), but also their method book series as well through additional resources on their website and Facebook group. They give teachers free access to materials that coordinate perfectly with this book. That being said, you do not need the additional resources. This book can stand alone without the additional materials. (But you will want them because they're so much fun to teach and students LOVE them!)

I have a little one in a different set of books and she's reached the point of playing two hands together. It's been a struggle for her and she's been getting discouraged. I told her that we would put aside her regular lesson books for the summer and I had a FUN new book for her to do this summer. We read the "story" and looked at all the pages. She went home SO excited and showed her parents all the great work pages she was going to do. It completely turned around her feelings about doing piano lessons over the summer :) Thanks for such an easy to use product that's perfect for filling the gaps!

The media could not be loaded.  I just had a lesson with a student who just got this book to start today. We played through the warm-ups and the first song, and then looked at the next one. So I said, "your job this week is to keep practicing 'Colors Fade', and then learn 'Shripmly Sublime too, ok?"She said, 'But, if I have time on the weekend, can I play Carrot Power too?""Of course!"Mind you, usually when I bring up practicing I hear about all the reasons why there's no time, so this was refreshing. She's feeling inspired by the songs in this book, I love it! Thanks team Dow!

We love this book in my studio! Its storyline and activities are engaging for students and encourages them to practice without being nagged. As a piano teacher, I like that it's an easy short term (i.e. summer) book with all the activity pages, practice log, solos, and duets packaged together making it easy to lesson plan as well as easy for kids to keep track of. The patterns in the music make it easy to teach and "easy" (just the right amount of challenge) for kids to learn. Highly recommend!

As with all the WunderKeys books, this one will be a hit with the kiddos! It is beautifully illustrated and has just the right amount of cool pieces and activities for my summer lessons with my late primer students. Planning for summer was a breeze!!

I put students in the Unicorn book who just were not ready to move on from basic C position, and I am finding great success. My students love this book!

Lovely engaging book, for children who love unicorns!! Lots of activities and songs. All at the same level helping children to be more confident at the level they are playing at before moving on. Lots of fun and highly recommend !!
