Smith Performance Sprayers NL403 No-Leak Backpack Sprayer for Pest Control, 4 Gallon

i bought two of these. The first one leaked where the brass plunger goes down into the stainless steel body. So I sent that one back, surprised about the leak given the name "no leak" sprayer and the good reviews. The second one arrived, and it leaked at the end of the hose just behind where it screws into the stainless steel handle body. Just a little sideways pressure on the hose caused liquid to squirt out. Glad I tested them with plain water before mixing in the herbicide. I also found the 4-way adjustable nozzle to be a hassle because it is awkward to adjust it without using both hands and getting fluid on the fingers. This sprayer has the appearance of being well made, but it doesn't work as well as it looks. I notice that most of the reviews of this product are older. And the price dropped twice from the time I ordered the first one until I returned the second one.. Home Depot no longer sells this model. Leaves me wondering if this model is on its way out. I am certainly not impressed.

This is a solid sprayer - I filled it all the way - no leaks. The pump handle is easy to work and builds up a good amount of pressure with easy. The sprayer nozzle itself is easily adjustable. Good padding on the straps. The sprayer wand snaps in and doesn't fall out as easily as another sprayer I've used in the past.

Awesome sprayer. Well designed and built. High quality, robust components used throughout this sprayer. I really like the stainless steel wand, spray valve housing, and trigger -- no external plastic parts to break off. The brass nozzle on this unit has four different spray patterns and is adjustable without changing tips (I chose the NL403 over the NL402 for this reason). Assembly only consists of attaching the nozzle to the wand, the wand to the hose, and the pump handle to the pump shaft (about 10 minutes). It works really well. This line of Smith Performance sprayers (NL400, NL402, and NL403) are more expensive than their competition but WELL worth it. Buy the best, no regrets!

I just purchased this a couple of days ago. I am really taken aback by the lack of good instructional materials with this sprayer. Not only is the print tiny on them but the info is for many different sprayers that the company sells. This is a pricey sprayer. They need to focus on this one in particular. Makes very little mention of how to make any adjustments to spraying patterns for one thing. Nozzle does not look like the ones they show. Hard to get the most out of the product when they do such a poor effortless job of helping you to set it up. Most of the reviews on this one are pretty good. It certainly looks well made but as I said they need to follow up with better instructional materials.

This is the third time I've bought this same item, and it's broken in the same spot every time. The hose comes loose from the wand. It's not something that's repairable.

We used this sprayer immediately after receiving it. Worked perfectly for the job we had to do. We sprayed the outside of our 1 1/2 story house for cluster flies. (under the eaves also) The spray reached it without being on a ladder. It is exactly what we had hoped it would do. Would recommend it to a friend.

Used it for 10 minutes and molding for pump broke. Called company and still waiting for part to arrive!

This is a professional grade sprayer which is well worth the price. Completely satisfied with its design, construction and performance.
