Is the mattress encased in a waterproof liner?

It is NOT waterproof. As I figured out the hard way when my dog got sick in his crate. Amazon just replaced the bed than Goodness! I ended up going to Walmart and buying a $4 twin size vinyl mattress cover. I put that on the foam, tucked in the extra vinyl and then zipped it all into the white cover. When I inserted it into the bed cover, I made sure the vinyl faced the top of the bed. Wish I knew it was not waterproof before I went through all those issues last week!!!

What's the best size option for a medium sized German Shepherd who weighs about 70 lbs?

I have a lab that is 70-75 lbs. The large is fine. He rests his head on the side like s pillow. If you think your dog wouldn't like that, go larger.

Do you know where i can find the warranty terms on this bed? i bought it on march 1, 2017 and i (and our boxer) love it, however the zipper broke :(

Contact the manufacturer through their Amazon page. I had the same thing happen to the zipper on the bed I purchased and they backed up their warranty!

I have two Japanese chin and don't know what size bed i should get?

Depends on the size you order, but if you are ordering a large (which is what I purchase for my standard poodle) those cuties will have enough room and a luxurious bed. I’ve bought soooo many dog beds and this one is the best so far especially for the price. Hope this helps.
