I would recommend an extra small. I bought Kanao and Giyu in an extra small size for my 5 year Olds and they were still just a little large but nothing a little jem could not fix. They both are 40 pounds.

I would follow the size chart but give a little extra.

I got an extra small for my 5 year old and it was perfect. I just had to take in the skirt a bit. I would say a small will be perfect.
