While the price is higher than other bars, the market for cricket flour is still small making this product more for the environmentally-conscious consumer than the everyday buyer, but my review is for the bars themselves not their economics. I've eaten crickets whole before and I get none of the cricket taste in these bars nor any cricket "bits." The texture of the bars is somewhere between a Clif bar and a PowerBar, and the flavors are all distinct from each other. As far as nutrition goes, the bars are somewhere in the range of 200 calories with protein contents on the order of 10 g as compared to sugar content around 5 g and fat content around 15-20%. The lower sugar content means the flavors aren't always sweet, but I still found them delicious. Overall, I really enjoy keeping these bars around as an on-the-go snack.Update: I'm dropping this product down to 4.5 stars because while the original flavors (Aztec, Thai, and Chaco) still taste as good as I remember them, the new Matcha flavor was disgusting unfortunately. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Great Introduction to Entomophagy *by K***N on Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2017* I got these because I'm interested in exploring entomophagy but I'm not yet at the point where I can pop a cricket in my mouth. I'm sure I'll get there, but it wasn't the right first step for me.I don't love the flavors of the bars, but it has nothing to do with the crickets. Even my husband, who was fairly appalled at the idea of eating bugs even in energy bar form, was pleasantly surprised at the lack of anything that could be discerned as an "insect" flavor. We just don't happen to love any of the flavor combos. I don't really want spiciness in my energy bars, and two of the bars had more bite than we like. The Chaco bar was our favorite.That being said, if the descriptions of the flavors appeal to you, the flavors do seem well balanced, and the big boost of protein from the crickets leads to a very filling bar without a ridiculous number of calories.
