How long does one application last?

It is supposed to last up to 8 hours, I think. It didn't work for my horse. I don't know if his adrenaline was too high or what. I am probably not a good one to help you out. I'm sorry.

Is this for mares only?

No. It works best for geldings. It’s made with mare hormones that the mare gives to the foal to keep it calm. Never used it on a mare.

Do you use rubberer gloves to apply to the horses nose?

You could use rubber gloves. But I just used my bare fingers.

Does one packet equal one application? Or does one packet contain enough gel for multiple applications? If the latter, how do you store opened packagr

One packet split between two nostrils. So one application per packet. 
