This is the second book I've purchased from this series (previously purchased Ancient Greece). On the strength of that one, I purchased this, and was not disappointed. These books are a great complement to our homeschool curriculum, providing lots of details. Although each individual biography is well written and engaging, I would say that the whole is much more than the sum of its parts, as reading all together gives a good sense of perspective of what life was like as well and how some of these 'characters' fit together. I highly recommend. The only change that I would like to see the author make is the addition of a Contents page at the beginning so we can more easily find each biography.

Loved by my 11 and 9 yo boys. I thoroughly enjoyed it as an adult too.

Ok but print too small for kids or grandmothers!

I was searching for a book for my nephew for Christmas as he requested to have history books about Rome and I thought that this would be perfect. After looking through the pages I noticed that there was a misprint and a whole other children's book was printed right in the middle of this book! Not sure how that happened but definitely weird how the company didn't catch that. I did not want to repurchase as I was afraid the same thing would happen.

Enjoyable and informative

The writing style is difficult to follow and lacks engagement. Additionally, the book’s layout feels cramped, with minimal margins on the pages, making reading even more challenging. The cover is also disappointingly flimsy, almost like a magazine, which detracts from the overall experience
