Right up there with all the top thrillers.
The Rex Dalton series is right up there with all of the other topYou thriller series. Lots of action, suspense and really well paced. This is the second book I've read in this series and would definitely recommend it.

the fulcrum
The dialogue is a little stiff and it gets bogged down in way too much information but the storyline was interesting.

The quintessential Rex Dalton: This is where the Rex Dalton legend begins.
You can read the Rex Dalton Thrillers in any order and enjoy them, but if you read any of them, you will want to go back and read them in the order that they were written. There are fourteen books in the series and the first one that I read fell near the middle. I became an instant Rex Dalton fan and went back and read all of them in the order in which JC Ryan wrote them. I just started rereading the complete series for the third time. The Fulcrum Book 1 in the series is where it all begins. It tells the story of how the Rex Dalton legend all started. In the opening scenes of The Fulcrum, we find Rex Dalton on vacation in Madrid, Spain with his whole family and his fiancee. In the blink of an eye, a terrorist bomber kills at the train station his whole family. Rex and his girlfriend survive because they were at a nearby coffee shop buying coffee for everyone when the bombs explode. That was the defining moment that changed Rex Dalton’s life forever. His former dreams of becoming a Foreign Service Officer giving way to an insatiable desire to kill terrorists. He enlists in the Marines, drafted into the Armies Delta Force, and then recruited by the CRC, a super secret organization who sole purpose is to do what the FBI, CIA, NSA, Homeland Security, and all the other agencies can’t do, stop the bad guys by any means necessary. Rex Dalton had found a home.At times The Fulcrum reads like an info dump, but everything we read in this first book is crucial to enjoying to the fullest all the books to follow in The Rex Dalton Thriller Series. In this first volume, we meet many of the people and visit many of the places that play crucial, key roles in the books that follow. In this book, we discover how Rex becomes the one man killing machine that we meet in later books. The Fulcrum spans many years, ten years of Rex’s life, and tells the tales of many of Dalton’s early missions for the CRC, but excitement and suspense about what will happen next will keep you turning pages and glued to the edge of your seat.

A hero for the times who is out to destroy terrorists and drug lords
The Fulcrum is the first in a series of Rex Dalton thrillers and is a good introduction into the background and motivations of a character determined to rid the world of as many evil doers as possible. This is a well written and detailed book. It is amazing that anyone can find the war on terrorists and drug lords to be too political as though power and politics have no association with the problem. Rex Dalton is a character who just wants to wipe out evil in the world having lost his family to it. No, he is not politically correct in his methods but neither are terrorists.Rex Dalton is a superman type character with superior but not superhuman abilities. He is the epitome of an action hero and I’m planning to continue on with this series that so clearly pits good against evil.

Easy read and worth the experience.
Having read most of JC Ryan’s efforts, I have very much enjoyed them all. None have disappointed me and anyone who reads his work I think will agree.Being a “dog lover” I do enjoy the use of Digger in his novels and series. Thanks Mr. Ryan for entertaining an old man while he waits for what’s to come.

Fast Paced 1st in Series Thriller
The Fulcrum by JC Ryan is the first book in the Rex Dalton thriller series as well as the first book I have read by this Author. From the very first page to the last this book had me wanting more. From the excellent character descriptions and the intelligent world building, to the real world storyline, this book was a wonderful beginning for the series. I am looking forward to reading the second book in the near future.

Unfortunately unbelievable, shocking and true to real life
A very entertaining book although sad at the same time because it's so close to the truth it's scary. I know that although this book is fiction there are actually people who are trained doing this kind of work; and that's unbelievably scary to me because of the need for them. Sometimes I wonder why bother when we all know that behind the very big money made whether it be from drugs, sex trafficking, weapons or other horrific things the people made wealthy are very high up in the government that will never be taken down. It will always be the scapegoat who gets caught and the addicted and people being used that will continue to suffer. That is so sad and despicable that it is allowed go on because of the silence of those in the know and the greed of others who are the problem; and the innocent will always be the ones that continue to suffer.

Great first book of the series
I started further into the series and decided to buy this book to get the initial take on how the journey began. I then jumped to the most recent and began catching up by reading multiple other books in this series. This is the exact genre that I look forward to reading. I hope this series will go on an endless journey.

Dross
Rex's family all die in the Madrid train bombing and he swears revenge against all terrorists. So he joins the US Marines, transfers to Delta Force and finally, because he's so brilliant, into a top secret killer force. But, oh dear, I tried, I really tried but I couldn't get beyond chapter 12. The whole book reads like an obituary. Page after page of: "... for three weeks he practiced (sic) weapons training then did six weeks of route marches before ...." Then, when we finally get to some actual action it takes one paragraph and contains ZERO action. Then I realised I had 4 hours still to go!As a writer, Ryan must have heard the phrase "Show, don't tell." If he did, he ignored it.This book is truly awful.

Great Start to the Series - 'The Ghost' Operative vs Terrorists
This is book one in the Rex Dalton Thriller series and introduces you to Rex just as a significant event occurs in his life. He and his girlfriend are meeting his family at Madrid train station on March 11, 2004, when a terrorist bomb goes off, while he and his girlfriend are collecting drinks for everyone down the street. As a result of this event, which killed 193 innocent lives, Rex wonders about his life and a year later joins the Marines and leaves his girlfriend and his old life behind.Rex has a flair for languages, which he studied in university and also picked up from his family and further study on his own. He also has some significant skills in martial arts. After his basic training, he is soon shifted elsewhere and eventually is trained in a secret new organisation that can take action against all and any enemies of his country without waiting for political say so. He soon gets a name for himself from his adversaries, many of them calling him a ‘ghost’, as he is never seen, but leaves behind bodies. We get to learn a lot about the training process he undertakes, at times in great detail from someone that obviously knows about this themselves. The physiological aspects of his role are also monitored, but Rex seems to have quite a unique outlook on his role. His motto is ‘don’t hate them – just kill them, before they can kill others’. The book covers a lot of his different jobs, mostly in the Middle East and then his introduction into Europe. He gets to set up caches all over, various false identities and also a network of contacts to use in each country that he goes.A great start to the series and it sets you up with the reasons why Rex started doing the job he does and what action set him up on this road. You also get to find about his training and then his active role as an agent of the country. What the next book will entail, I am waiting to find out, as I have thoroughly enjoyed this one. I received an ARC copy of this book from Hidden Gems and I have even bought a copy and look forward to the rest of them. I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

His actions are directed at evil people, to protect innocent people.
He’s a pistol, cocked and ready...Rex Dalton always strived to be the best he could be; but the old Rex is no more. Although he is full of hatred, he has learnt how to control his anger. The new Rex who wants to serve his country, and avenge his family, enlisted in the Marines, before transferring to Delta Force. His role continues to change and Rex likes the no-nonsense approach of his new way of life.I thoroughly enjoyed the start to this series about the brash, young American undercover operative, Rex Dalton; linguist, spy and assassin, he also has a fear of dogs. A life changing event set him on course as a dedicated hunter of terrorists; known as ‘The Ghost’, ‘The Cat’ or ‘The Devil’. During his training with the secret Crisis Response Consultancy (CRC) he had learnt to be part of the solution, not the problem.......I’m now looking forward to Rex’s next assignment in The Power of Three.

A good start looking forward to the next book !
Being an avid fan of the Rosseler's & The Deveraux's, I wasn't to sure about this as I'm not a big fan of books to do with the Army, but I was quite surprised. I enjoyed the unwinding story developing with Rex coping with the traumatic loss of family turning him into a vengeful assassin, it jumped around early on, building up a picture as he made the transition from soldier to covert operative, bringing in the army working dog was a nice touch, looking forward to finishing "the power of three" A thoroughly entertaining start to the series, a good start looking forward to the next book !

Super Soldier
This first book in the series has been meticulously researched and implemented, which has left the reader with a vast knowledge of his secret army that very few know about.Red Dalton is a very able person who has already been through the mill emotionally after losing his family and after completing the training which was very hard, has now become a force to be reckoned with.I thoroughly enjoyed the book and recommend it and also look forward to the rest of the series.
