Great Start to the Series - 'The Ghost' Operative vs Terrorists
This is book one in the Rex Dalton Thriller series and introduces you to Rex just as a significant event occurs in his life. He and his girlfriend are meeting his family at Madrid train station on March 11, 2004, when a terrorist bomb goes off, while he and his girlfriend are collecting drinks for everyone down the street. As a result of this event, which killed 193 innocent lives, Rex wonders about his life and a year later joins the Marines and leaves his girlfriend and his old life behind.Rex has a flair for languages, which he studied in university and also picked up from his family and further study on his own. He also has some significant skills in martial arts. After his basic training, he is soon shifted elsewhere and eventually is trained in a secret new organisation that can take action against all and any enemies of his country without waiting for political say so. He soon gets a name for himself from his adversaries, many of them calling him a ‘ghost’, as he is never seen, but leaves behind bodies. We get to learn a lot about the training process he undertakes, at times in great detail from someone that obviously knows about this themselves. The physiological aspects of his role are also monitored, but Rex seems to have quite a unique outlook on his role. His motto is ‘don’t hate them – just kill them, before they can kill others’. The book covers a lot of his different jobs, mostly in the Middle East and then his introduction into Europe. He gets to set up caches all over, various false identities and also a network of contacts to use in each country that he goes.A great start to the series and it sets you up with the reasons why Rex started doing the job he does and what action set him up on this road. You also get to find about his training and then his active role as an agent of the country. What the next book will entail, I am waiting to find out, as I have thoroughly enjoyed this one. I received an ARC copy of this book from Hidden Gems and I have even bought a copy and look forward to the rest of them. I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

A good read comprising several anecdotal stories
I thought the plots and character descriptions were very good but would have enjoyed a little more detail in some areas. This would have increased both suspense and anticipation too, but very good nonetheless. Thank you Mr Ryan

His actions are directed at evil people, to protect innocent people.
He’s a pistol, cocked and ready...Rex Dalton always strived to be the best he could be; but the old Rex is no more. Although he is full of hatred, he has learnt how to control his anger. The new Rex who wants to serve his country, and avenge his family, enlisted in the Marines, before transferring to Delta Force. His role continues to change and Rex likes the no-nonsense approach of his new way of life.I thoroughly enjoyed the start to this series about the brash, young American undercover operative, Rex Dalton; linguist, spy and assassin, he also has a fear of dogs. A life changing event set him on course as a dedicated hunter of terrorists; known as ‘The Ghost’, ‘The Cat’ or ‘The Devil’. During his training with the secret Crisis Response Consultancy (CRC) he had learnt to be part of the solution, not the problem.......I’m now looking forward to Rex’s next assignment in The Power of Three.

A page turner
A new character rises from the ashes of despair. This first in the series gives an insight into what made Rex the man he is today. Plenty of action woven into a good story line, all building the picture of what's to come in the books that follow.

Consequences
This book is different from my normal read. One man, Rex Dalton, has a tragedy in his life that no one should have to suffer and decides to get payback against those who caused it. After extensive military train he becomes part of an elite black-ops organisation. He becomes the guy that the bad guys look back over their shoulder for. Have a great read.

predictable
Enjoyed the story and pace of action book, but the main character has no failings and can do everything perfectly gets a bit wearing.

Super Soldier
This first book in the series has been meticulously researched and implemented, which has left the reader with a vast knowledge of his secret army that very few know about.Red Dalton is a very able person who has already been through the mill emotionally after losing his family and after completing the training which was very hard, has now become a force to be reckoned with.I thoroughly enjoyed the book and recommend it and also look forward to the rest of the series.

American hero, no faults. Brilliant at everything
It's like a Marvel story. No danger, no excitement because good ole Rex can fight shoot and think better than everyone else. He can even grow a beard in a week. Of course he's good looking to boot. Absolutely rubbish plot and story, was hard pushed to finish.
