Hyke & Byke nail it again with a great products
This is only a initial review for this Zion two person tent. I start camping when I was 18, when I start have my own car. I own numbers of tents in the past, from Nemo one person to a eight person REI kingdom 8 family tent, I also have try these $50 four person tents form coleman. Two years ago I start using car roof top tents. But I have a Kayak camping trip coming up is May, I need a new light weight two person tent. I have use Hyke & Byke sleeping bags for long time, their product quality is very good and this Zion price did not break your bank. SO I give it a try. When I receive this tent, I can tell it is a well build and easy to use tent. takes me under 8 minutes to set up. I live in the northeast, I must use rain fly. but still is not to bad for kayak camping. For backpacking maybe a bit on a heavy side but depends on how far you hike for the camp.I love this tent use only 4 short guidelines, and a top storage mesh are handle. all the tent stakes are aluminum. I suggest to open up the tent to let it fresh up before first use, because it has a very strong ammonia smell, maybe is the coating, it takes up to few days for the smell be gone.I will follow up a real life use review after I use it.Update after use it 4th times of this amazing tent. No complain at all! 1 time is under bad weather, no issue!

Hyke and Byke Zion Backpacking Tent
I received the new Zion 2p tent this afternoon and set it up in the backyard. I discovered Hyke and Byke when I was shopping for sleeping bags to take to Philmont Scout Ranch. I bought a couple of 15 degree bags and was very impressed with them. They were nice backpacking bags worked out great on our Philmont Trek. Lightweight, warm and durable. So, I jumped on ordering this new tent from Hyke and Byke. I am not the most knowledgeable tent reviewer in the world, but I have spent plenty of nights year round camping as Scoutmaster for my sons troop. At Philmont we used the MSR tents available to scouts. As you might expect, compared to the MSR, this tent material felt less substantial although I would guess about the same weight.During setup I liked the pole and how easy it was to put up. The pole is basically one unit that snaps together at angles and helped by the elastic running through the middle of the pole. The poles connect to the tent and the ground cloth by grommets and stay put because of ridges on the end. Then the tent body clips onto the pole making it very easy to put up and take down quickly. Compared to my old Kelty 2p this tent has much more vertical walls and tons of room, especially headroom, for a 2p tent. I am 6'2" and there was lots of space and shoulder room to sit up in the tent. There wasn't much extra room for me end to end, but I didn't feel cramped either. I felt like the tent had excellent ventilation. There were also storage pockets in the corner, and one that hangs from the top.The rain fly fit nicely on top. I expected to find grommets where it connected to the cross bar, but I didn't find any. The rain fly clips onto either the tent base, or the ground cloth if tenting with just the fly. Nice feature. It looks like the only way to connect the fly to the pole is by tying off the straps, which seems like that would be awkward. It comes with stakes and reflective guy lines to add to the fly, but I didn't use those for this setup. The tent went up fast and dropped fast. I was worried about getting it back in the bag that it came with, and I had to work on that for about twenty minutes and four attempts before it went back in. I even ripped the bag a little, which was a bit disappointing. The bag should be bigger, or I should be better at rolling up a tent. Either way, getting it back in the bag might slow you down.Overall I think this is an excellent tent and value and a nice upgrade for me over my old Kelty. I will be taking this out on a campout in a couple of weeks and may be able to give an update then.

5 stars, but know that...
I purchased this tent for an adult going on Scout campouts. It has room for one person in all reality. 2 could fit in, but not comfortably. I knew this before hand so this was not a concern for me. The tent is the perfect amount of space for one person with larger gear in the vestibules. I put this tent to the test. First, I submitted it to high winds and cold temperatures. With all the guylines, and the vestibule button loops employed for guylineage, the tent withstood 35-40 mph sustained winds with frequent 70 mph gusts. One of the button loops started to pull free but managed to hang on until the end of the 3 day camp. The temperatures were below freezing at night with high soil moisture leading to condensation freezing on the inside of the tent and dew freezing solid on the outside of the tent. The vent windows in the fly do not stay open under these conditions because the stay is not ridged enough to stay unfolded under natural forces. The next testing trip for this tent was during heavy rains in high humidity. The velocity of the raindrops hitting the fabric of the fly caused micro drops coming thru to the inside such that I could feel the drops but they were not large enough to make me more than just damp. Because the temperatures were hot and muggy, I was damp anyway. At the time I just growled and went to sleep and put up with it. However, again I found that ventilation was limited and I wanted the fly vents to stay open, but they could not under the impact of the down pour. I have not yet tried this tent out in a not too deep flooding environment. As I camp all year round, I am sure I will get the chance to try it out. I have done so with every other tent I have owned. Bathtub flooring, and tapped seams - even on the corners where the fly clips and stake webbing is - is the best way to remain dry in such situations. I do not know yet how well this tent will do with the corners under water. So far, overall, I have given this tent a good test run and have been very pleased. I am going to buy another if I can find a larger sized one. It is not heavy for the money, and has great durability. I am very happy. I just have to figure out how to solve the fly vent and micro drop issue. I have a larger ultralight tent from a different manufacturer and that one has stiff stays on the fly vents, and the fly material is silicon permeated. I wonder if I could retrofit this tent with these 2 features. I also plan to get old fashioned liquid seam sealer and treat the floor corners just in case. This is the best tent quality I have found for the money. THE OTHER THING THAT TENT BUYERS SHOULD BE AWARE OF IS: Because of the engineering of this tent, it allows the tent to be broken down in the rain. Here is what I mean. During a day long deluge, I packed up my gear and put it in the vestibule. I then got into the vestibule myself and unhooked the tent body from the poles while leaving the fly in place. I transferred the tent stakes to the fly, unhooking the tent body and the foot print, leaving the fly in place overhead. I then packed up the tent and foot print. I put my tent in my pack, put my pack rain cover on my pack then my rain gear on myself, then I got out of the fly and packed it up wet and strapped it on top of my packs rain cover. I then had a dry tent to set up that night with only a wet fly to worry about. Because of the way this tent is engineered, this is a very easy process to do.

This is my first time Amazon review. I have compared multiple brands of tents and this one has the best quality.
