Rare Earth LIVE IN CHICAGOLive Album On Translucent Red Double Vinyl!Live in Chicago is a hard to find gem. 5 star reviews for performance and sound quality of the live concert. The concert was recorded at the Arie Crown Theater in Chicago in 1974 when Rare Earth was in it's prime. They thrill the crowd with extended versions of their top hits like "(I Know) I'm Losing You," "Get Ready" and "I Just Want To Celebrate." Deluxe packaging includes: OBI strip, gatefold jacket with two pockets, printed inner sleeves and red translucent color vinyl with original record labels.FEATURES:Double Vinyl LPTranslucent Red VinylDeluxe PackagingOBI StripDouble-Pocket Gatefold JacketPrinted Inner SleevesOriginal Record LabelsRare Earth Live In Chicago 2LP (Red Translucent Vinyl)

Different than the Rare Earth: In Concert album because the songs are more improvised in this live concert
If you already own the Rare Earth: In Concert album, you will not get a repeat of some of the same songs on this album. The versions done in this concert are different and more improvised that the versions done on the Rare Earth: In Concert album. The Culture Factory USA release of this has great sound quality like the other two Rare Earth releases they issued previously at the time of this writing. The great thing about this release is that this album was never officially released previously. I think I read somewhere a long time ago that there were bootleg versions of this concert or parts of the concert floating around years ago. If you are a fan of the band, you will want this in your collection.Culture Factory USA does mini album replicas and they do a great job reproducing the artwork. I don't know if there was ever any artwork for any bootleg versions that may have floated around years ago however. But I know a great job was done for the other two Rare Earth releases the Culture Factory USA record company did previously.Once again, if you are a fan of the band or even someone who wants to explore more by the band, do yourself a favor and get this before it sells out.

this sounds great. The band and crowd are very much into ...
Just want to add to the other reviews. This was recorded 40 years ago but puts many other live recordings to shame in terms of quality. All instruments are well recorded but this is not an overly polished live recording. Rough and raw around the edges but again, especially for the time, this sounds great. The band and crowd are very much into the performance. This is very close to their "Live in Concert" release in terms of performance and many of the songs are the same. However, if you look at track length you'll see that the band has changed things up - I hear different intros, jamming/improvisation and outros so this is not a rehash by any means. Call it what you want but this motown/psychedelic sound I'm sure provided inspiration to today's jam bands along with bands like Little Feat and Humble Pie (check out the Rockin' the Fillmore box for proof of this band's stage credibility). This cd is an excellent live release and highly recommended.

true live recording of one of my favorite bands. rare earth live in chicago is not ...
well recorded, true live recording of one of my favorite bands. rare earth live in chicago is not a slick overdubbed live album. peter's vocals are a little rough around the edges. there are several songs that overlap from their first concert album. the arrangements are new to those songs. wish more songs from the Ma and Willie albums would have been recorded. this album was originally held back from release by motown records in 1974. the band plays great through out the whole show. high energy all the way. i'm sure just about all rare earth fans will want to get this cd. not as polished as the in concert album, but almost just as great. wish it could have been a little longer as it clocks in at 68:50. limited edition.

One problem
I grabbed this as soon as it came out because it's hard to get anything live by Rare Earth. The different versions are great, the sound is great, the looks of a 45 rpm record is cool. So why only 3 stars you ask I'm surprised nobody else mentions this, if you notice there's two parts to ''I know I'm losing you'' that's because there's 5 seconds of silence between pt1 & pt2. It must have been taken off of a cassette tape & the 5 seconds of silence is the tape reversing. I mean c'mon guys it's 2015 this could have been pieced together professionally & been one track. I have a stand alone & I got it 99% perfect in 3 trys. Imagine what a sound engineer could have done. If I didn't have the stand alone that would have bothered me.

Avis perso

Get It Now!
This is an inspired performance by Rare Earth - a great find for fans! the culture Factory has once again done a superb job in both the presentation and the fidelity of the cd. It is the fourth cd I have purchased from their label and the sound on each is impressive. Note that these are out it limited numbers so may be hard to get if you wait too long!
