Meets the same high standards as Starrett's other Toolmaker's series of squares. I suppose the Master Precision series is even higher quality, and American made. But at 2 1/2 times the price, not worth it for any but the most demanding machinists.For me, this square is more than adequate for tool set up and woodworking. I bought it to complement my 6" Toolmaker's square because the smaller size works better for me on precise layouts and checking jointed edges for square. It's probably overkill for most woodworking applications. Nonetheless, I have had issues with burring the brass edges found on most squares made specifically for woodworkers.

Very nice and very square. Expensive, but precise.

Imagine my dismay when I pull the item out of the shipping envelope and the first thing I see is "Made in China". I don't care how good it is, I bought Starrett to support American labor. It's going back.
