A San Francisco Delight!
As a San Franciscan, I have to tell you, this book makes me smile, laugh aloud, work at figuring out the mysteries, and enjoy the history of the city I love so much! Focus is the Steinhart Aquarium in Golden Gate Park. We are also caught up in the election of the interim Mayor. There is Fried Chicken in the air (followers of the series will know what I'm saying,) and it is exciting Isabella and Rupert, two beautiful cats that live above the Green Vase Antique store. Their person,Oscar's niece begins to find clues, secrets, objects and more that lead her on a chase throughout the city to find Clive, the famous Albino Alligator. Clive is missing from the Aquarium and the city is on alert.Montgomery Carmichael, hopeful interim Mayoral candidate, is hot on the trail as well. The Ex-Mayor is busy aiding the New incarnation of James Lick, Millionaire Tramp. While the media chases Clive, and James Lick and friends work the election, San Francisco is enjoying the Indian Summer season with relish. There are many mysteries in this book. Yes, there is a murder but you might be surprised when it occurs and it leads you to wonder... This is not a traditional murder mystery, no it is far more.Ms. Hale writes with the quirky style that us San Franciscans love. The characters do not need names as we recognize their description. But, the book isn't just for insiders, no it is for persons that enjoy true mysteries and love to laugh. This is a wonderful series. It ends with a cliff hanger which is exciting to me as I await the next in the series. Oh, I now know 'How to Tail a Cat."

Slow
So sorry to say this because, the genre is so small anyway - I would hate to discourage any of the authors from giving it a go. However, I have to admit that the story dragged. I waited eagerly for Ms. Hale's next installment of the story and then I could barely stay awake through it. I think 2 things that will improve the ongoing tale: first, realize that serial readers are serial readers for a reason - they love the story and don't want it to end. Take a paragraph or 2 to summarize and make anyone who didn't read the first few books want to read them. Secondly, decide what you are going to call each character and stick with it. Don't confuse the issue by calling a chacter by name in one sentence, then for the next 3 disown her as 'the niece'. Personally, I would give the cats larger parts in the story. Hopefully Ms. Hale knows that is why we read it. Try, try, try again - you'll get it.

I love cats and San Francisco
WE have recently joined the Rebecca Hale fan club. I lived in the Bay Area for twenty five years. Retired and moved to the high desert in Utah. Rebecca's book makes me long to move back and we would if I really wanted have all the traffic and earthquakes. My present home is peaceful. During rush hour it takes me almost four minutes to drive from one end of town to the other end on the main street (four traffic lights)

Good Clean Fun
This series is refreshingly entertaining and can be enjoyed by anyone of any age. There are enough twists and turns to keep one on the edge of their seat, but none of the sex and violence that other authors seem to need, to sell their books.

Surprise....A White cat meets a white Alligator
I know this was a book of fiction but do think that this could actually happen if the circumstances were just right.. I will share this book with many of my other cat loving friends and am sure they will enjoy it too.

Mystery of the alligator
This is another mystery that is solved by a lady and her two cats. She also has the help of a pesky neighbor. There is mystery of the alligator, and what it has to do with the clues left by her uncle. This is another interesting mystery and it also has some funny situations that involve her pesky neighbor. In spite of her pesky neighbor, she and her cats are able to solve the mystery.

The Glass Half Full
The usual characters are with us once again. After this last book am not so sure I find the uncle a man who has good motives other than helping his niece support his beloved antique shop and her life. Other than the niece and cats there aren't any characters that one can admire or like or look forward to again in next book. Someone good to be a part of Ms. Hales stories would improve the reading of them.Otherwise the history of San Fran is interesting but find some of it a bit much when thre's not enough character development.

Inventive, intriguing and plain fun with history alongside.
Inventive and ingenious with a dash of historical information and what darned FUN! This is a great series and the story, although it has cats a main characters, doe not dsepend on them and is a stand alone mystery and suspense series. The books have humor and intrigue.

A Mystery Without Murders is Still Fun
Once I got used to the fact that there was no murders in this one (as opposed to others by the same author), I enjoyed it for it's own sake. It was entertaining & fun to read. "The niece" and her two cats are very appealing. A good book.
