Review: A(n Attainable) Dream Come True - Normally, at $600, this synth was personally just a little out of my reach. When it dropped to $439 just recently, I did not hesitate. Finally having this synth has been a dream come true. At one point, I wanted this to be my first synth, but I wasn’t able to get it. I got an incredible deal on a used Korg MS-20, and allowed me to finally scratch that hardware analog synth itch I was craving, and it’s been an incredible first synth, especially since it’s semi-modular and it has a keyboard, so I could actually practice performance with it. But I knew I wanted this one next. I wanted that Moog sound, and I was obsessed with the polyrhythm subharmonics concept, just because of the results I saw it produce in reviews and demos. People didn’t lie that it was an inspiration machine! It’s definitely got a sound, it’s not a sound design masterpiece and it’s not very flexible, but I knew that going in, I wanted it for exactly what it did. It’s awesome, and it can sound massive with the right FX. Legit a dream come true, you gotta get this if you love the demos of it as much as I did. Getting to know and use the Subharmonicon is going to be a lifetime of music making fun! Review: Great value, cool functionality, looks great! - It’s great, though use care when installing the instruments as it’s easy to inadvertently unbalance the stand. Not that it would tip, just that it rocks in place if you don’t align things evenly. It’s a challenge to install the synths without scratching their sides. Slow and steady! The little summing mixer is great, only one single power outlet needed to power three synths. The included dust cover is well done and can be connected to the frame of the rack on each side.
