This is the kit that is needed when the hex key socket gets stripped out. It is made to ware faster than the key, although replacing the key is also recommended as those edged are also getting rounded out. This is pretty easy to remove and replace. On our doors, you don't even have to remove the whole bar and lock mechanism. We were able to take the end cap off the aluminum bar and slide it off far enough to unscrew the 1197 dogging kit. That's it, then reassemble the bar and end cap and your all set.

I made it work with the old base, this was to tall and didn't work, probably my fault for not measuring 100%

Perfect fit, works great. Note that the assembly is attached with self-tapping screws (thread them into the assembly before installing it). No instructions included.
