Not sure where all these positive reviews are coming from.....not an Elac Navis clone!
.......but I purchased on the strength of the reviews, not only here, but You Tube and everywhere else.I was particularly swayed by a review on Amazon USA, where one guy said they were better than the Elac Navis.I was looking for a pair of active speakers for my Studio. I currently use the Elac Navis in my main hifi system. The Kalis share a similar configuration being a 1" x 4" x 5" 3- way active speaker, but at less than 1/4 the cost. How bad could they be, especially after the glowing reviews from so-called experts. I figured a major cost of the Navis went into the cabinet which is a wonderfully finished piano black. I was well aware the finish on the Kalis would be inferior, but hoped the SQ would be better than it was.I cannot describe the disappointment on firing up the Kalis :(They sounded extremely veiled.....not clear and detailed as described by others. The bass was woolly and boomy, not tight & textured as also described by others. They sounded so bad I could not pick out any imaging or soundstaging.Volume was down (even maxed out) compared to the Navis.So....maybe my ears have been spoiled by the Navis. And maybe these would improve with run-in, but they were so below the sound quality of the Navis I was used to, could not bear listen to them...................or maybe studio engineers are much less fussy than audiophiles....

Great budget speaker
Nothing to complain about, good audio quality for a good price. Genelecs they are not, but perfectly adequate for listening or mix duties - would prefer this over other similarly priced monitors. Add a sub if you mix/listen to bass music with frequences below 40hz
