Xena Ground Anchor Stainless Steel

Excellently engineered product! But must use a 3/4" masonry drill bit with HAMMER drill to properly install.
Better than the Kryptonite ground anchor, looks way nicer and swivels too! No crappy masonry bolts included like the Kryptonite; everything in this package works great.I made a HUGE mistake and mine didn't install perfectly, but well enough... still a 5 star product, it was my fault for poor installation, which is DIFFICULT. Let me explain:Drilling a 20mm (~3/4") hole into concrete is NOT easy. I tried to cheap out and bought a regular corded drill and masonry drill bits on Amazon. It did not work after trying for an hour.... Ended up renting a real hammer drill at Home Depot (a $200+ tool) and they were nice enough to lend me a proper 3/4" masonry drill bit. WOW what a difference the right tool makes! I was able to drill the hole in 2 minutes. Here's where I messed up royally. A 3/4" drill bit is approx ~19mm. The instructions asked for 20mm. Once I made the hole I inserted the anchor and it was really tight and didn't go all the way down. I SHOULD HAVE PULLED IT OUT THEN. But for some reason I thought it could just slide in if I pushed it a little. BIG MISTAKE. (it's f'ing concrete!) Now it's stuck half way in and I have no choice but to keep going as I'm already committed to this permanent ground installation. So I jump on it, cover it with a piece of wood and hammer it, eventually took a 2"x6" wood plank and just kept pounding. It goes down with maybe ~1/4" gap with the ground and won't go any further... so I decide to just call it and turn the anchor until the bolt snapped in place. Afterwards I realized there was a scraping sound when I swiveled it. Through all my pounding, the vibration unscrewed one of the allen bolts on the underside so it was completely loose but didn't have enough gap to come out. So i'm basically stuck with it as is. Drives my OCD crazy that it's not perfect but it was my fault completely for not making the hole big enough.Like another reviewer said, you have to take the drill bit and wiggle it around to expand the hole enough for the anchor to drop in EASILY.Get this product definitely over the Kryptonite anchor, but DON"T make the same mistake I did! Get the right tools, be patient with the initial fitting, THEN lock it in place perfectly once it can be FLUSH with the ground.Even with my 1/4" gap and missing allen bolt (3 out of 4 holding the baseplate underneath on instead of all 4), it still feels really solid and should definitely deter any thieves. My installation does have a weakness that could possibly be exploited with a long crowbar but I'm hoping nobody realizes my imperfect install!

Simple Permanant design. Very Well made!!!
Very well made and simple to install. You need:Rotary Hammer Drill20mm x 200mm Carbide Tipped Rotary Hammer BitRubber Mallet to fit bolt and twistSharpie to mark depth of hole (go few mils past needed depthIt is important to get dust out of hole to not blind nut to cause compression. You simply twist clockwise until it breaks free and twists.I appreciate simple well made design. It took me 10 min to understand design and 5 mins to drill the hole. I highly recommend.

Difficult but simple installation. Worth it.
Drilling a hole in concrete is not an easy task. But all things considered, the installation went smoothly and I have a lot more confidence now when I park my bike in my driveway. The ground anchor dissembles and you can see how it works. Looks pretty solid. My non-expert, but strongly held, opinion is that this won't be the weakest link in my security.I drilled the hole with three bits, starting small and working up. It gives the hole width in millimeters, and I bought the closest I could find in inches, but slightly smaller, and it worked fine. After drilling the depth I did have to angle the drill to widen the bottom of the hole a bit because it would get stuck and not fall all the way to the bottom. But it did eventually go all the way in. I tightened it with a hammer not a crow bar, and that worked fine too. As a programmer who hasn't done much hand work in years, it made me feel pretty accomplished to get this installed.Worth it.
