Wear gloves.
This is not for felling trees, but rather for firewood processing, particularly in camp. As others have noted the fold out saw can be a bit irritating in the grip. You should be wearing work gloves when using an axe or hand saw like this anyway so just do it. Otherwise it could potentially be a pinch problem. The axe is hefty enough for lopping small to medium ish limbs off of standing deadwood, splitting reasonable size firewood rounds, I would say up to around 10". Much beyond that you need a bigger axe than a large camp hatchet / small axe that this thing is.The saw works well enough. Some folks complain it is easy to bend, and I guess that is so if you are going at it like a rabid wolverine, use the teeth closest to the handle and smooth and even strokes and all is well. But get going out of control and a bent saw blade will be your reward, like ANY saw blade.Overall construction is a little bit below what I expect from Schrade, but it is not bad. I am not sure given their multi function approach they are taking with this, how they could have designed or built it better. If you accept it for what it is, it is a good tool to get an important job done. If you are going to fuss about the saw blade in the handle, just opt for their regular XL camp hatchet / axe and a separate folding saw if you want both functions.

Love it
The quality is outstanding. The sharpness is good, but it should have came with the stone the group and durability are comfortable.

Not bad
The look of this axe is great, and after having it out a few times walking in the woods I quite enjoy having it. The clasp to keep the saw in is a little bulky and catches on the sheath, which already has some damage not sure where that came from, and the saw itself is a little wobbly and takes a bit of getting used to. The handle is pretty decent too, feels pretty ergonomical. Being a somewhat beginner in being outdoorsy it is a great starting off point for a(n) hatchet/axe

Tough design challenge
Overall this is a great tool for any camping trip. The size of the ax head and handle are in good proportion that makes swinging it pretty easy. It chops well, holds an edge well, and the sheath is a good design. The only complaint is the design of the saw blade. It is plenty sharp, but if you are not carful, or a novice at sawing wood, you can easily bend the blade. Just go slow and steady to prevent this from happening. Keep your arm motion in a straight line with the cut and you will be fine. The combo idea is excellent and this tool is now part of my camping kit, but I know that if I bend that blade, it's done. The solution to this potential problem may be with the design of a slightly thicker thicker, a stronger spring steel for the saw, and more depth to the saw.Another issue is a slight rattle of the saw in the handle when chopping. It's just an annoying noise, but I don't like it. To solve this, I jammed one foam ear protector in the hollow space in the handle where the saw is stored. Place it about 4 inches from the tip of the saw and the noise goes away.
