The Man from Skibbereen: A Novel

This book has exceptional characters and a wonderful plot. The author has a plethora of titles and wonderful writing style.

Louis L’Amour never disappoints. His hero’s are always winners. Villains always defeated. Indians respected, ladies rescued, and bad guys get cashed in. In between these pages, details of Western life are revealed.

I have read many of Louis L'Amour's books. I have enjoyed I would say 99% of his books I have gotten, and this one is no exception so far! His writings really bring you back to the Old West before industrialization came into play here in America. The good guy always wins, and the bad guy always pays somehow!Real Men, Real Women who knew the roles God has given to us! If there was ever a time you had to work hard and be self sufficient it was definitely in the time of his novels! Most of us today would not survive too long as we have become too complacent in our day and age with all the technology we have now!

An absolute pleasure to be totally immersed into this beautiful story. A true tale of the old west and how the west was won.

Its a good story, it has very good moments with two exemptions:1- the situations the main character gets into are too tough to believe SPOILER ALERT for example, the hero gets a part of a finger blown up by a bullet and a bit later it gets into a championship fight.2- the end feels incomplete

The man from Skibereen is a misnomer. The book talks of a man from County Cork. It a great book to read.

This is another great Louis L'Amour western western and you are exposed and feel what the persons he's portraying in the adventure. He shares with you intimate moments such as ethnic racism that the Irish, Indians, Chinese had to deal with.All of Louis L'Amour westerns, I think that everyone should read, because he includes historical events, descriptions of surrounding flora. You will not be disappointed..So read😃and ENJOY.

Very good story right along the lines you expect from mr. L'Amour kind of short but an excellent read really enjoyed the book

Very good read.

Tells the story of an Irish tenderfoot fresh off the boat to a experienced western man. A mystery, a beautiful girl, railway track laying and the fights that such layer camps engage in for entertainment. Plenty of gunplay out amongst the brush as some haven't got the message that the civil war has been fought and lost. A typical L'amour tale that is a good quick enjoyable read.

Really enjoyed this listening book.

This is a well written narrative which is a typical Louis L’amour novel. Perhaps not as good as some others but interesting reading nevertheless. Always descriptive.
