I bought this for our ten-year old son after reading about one or two youths who suffered serious heart injuries from baseballs to the chest. Apparently the chest bone is not yet firm enough at this young age to protect the heart from a direct hit by a baseball in the middle of the chest. If a child's league has a defibrillator available with a trained operator, that is excellent. But I don't think that our league provides defibrillators, and I wanted at least to protect our son, even if I cannot be sure that all of the boys on his team are protected. After my explanation our son willingly agreed to wear the protector during games. He also wears it at practices when we remember to bring it. It fits easily under his team t-shirt (between his undershirt and the team t-shirt). The black strap behind the neck was visible at first, but we have pinned his team t-shirt in the back of the neck to make the neck opening smaller, so the strap is no longer visible when he wears the protector, and the protector itself is not noticable under the team t-shirt. Our son says the protector is comfortable and he seems to be happy with the protection, as are his mother and me.

Love this item the heart gard. Our granddaughter has been using it since she has been in school. She had open heart surgery when she was 5 1/2 weeks old and is now 9 years old. She has a weak spot at the bottom of the breast bone so needs the protection. This is the only thing we could find and have been using then for a number of years now. She knows she needs then and this is the only type she likes. Thanks for carrying them.

I bought this for my little league softball team, just making sure my pitcher was safe from commotio cordis. The straps are very easy to adjust, it's lightweight so my pitcher didn't even feel it on her and the straps did not restrict any of her movement. The heart protector itself is strong and durable and I felt confident she would be safe wearing it.

The straps are a tick generic but priced right.

My four year old has a chest deformity that leaves his heart and lungs vulnerable but he insisted on playing t-ball like everyone else. This became my best friend during our season. The straps are not made for a small four year old obviously but they are adjustable and tightened down enough to fit him and the hard piece was large enough to cover his entire chest while still being light weight and he was plenty able to move around. He got hit in the chest of course and while it scared him he was completely protected from the hit and was not hurt. Would definitely recommend to worried parents!
