A creative adventure
Embroidered & Embellished: 85 Stitches Using Thread, Floss, Ribbon, Beads & More Step-by-Step Visual Guide  The newest book by Christen Brown is truly amazing in its color photography and amazing details for design, instruction and inspiration. Christen has chosen a wonderful array of projects to awe and inspire the beginner to advanced embroidery enthusiast. She has combined a full range of creative material in her designs: threads, silk ribbon, beads, buttons, fibers and findings. She demystifies the difficulties with specific threads and carefully coaches one through the entire process of creating and recreating the projects in her book. I could not wait to receive my preordered copy and cannot wait to read it and reread it from cover to cover. Kudos to Christen!

Its good. Ive read through it once but have not ...
I purchase this book as an ebook so its on my tablet. Its good. Ive read through it once but have not referred back to it. It has photo tutorials on the stitches to create, e.g. a photo then explanation then photo then explanation etc. It has quite a variety of different stitches to create different flowers and leaves. It has projects for different things to make. But the colours listed you would have to work out for yourself because it doesn't say a particular brand and colour, which is not a bad thing because then you can go pick the brand and colours of your choice. It says e.g. Colour A light pink, Colour B medium pink, Colour C Shell pink, Colour D Lilac and so forth. If you want to make something out of this book and your a beginner Id recommend getting the book in print so you can use the templates with more ease.

This book makes me so happy
I have taken a couple of classes from Christen Brown on line and though her classes are very thorough, I always wanted more - and here it is - beautifully detailed photos of stitches, patterns and instructions for some fun and DOABLE projects and beautifully photographed samples of some finished projects. Often I find books to be either too basic or advanced but without clear enough instructions to replicate them. This book offers instruction for making your projects as simple or as complex as your little heart desires including the addition of beads, sequins and ribbons to your embroidery. This book is awesome! Thanks Christen for writing the book I always wanted.

Excellent reference
Excellent reference book split into 4 distinct sections covering an overview, project samples, stitches, & techniques for 1) Traditional Embroidery, 2) Silk Ribbon Embroidery, 3) Raised & Textured Embroidery, and 4) Bead Embroidery. End section also lists several sources & links for material, beads, thread, etc.I checked out the author's website (also linked) - it has further stitching education, articles she's had published in various trade journals, and free resources; it was worth the time I spent on it.

Lovely Book that you will be proud to have!
I love this book! I takes you through products you will use. Ribbon types, size, variety, beading, embellishments etc. This book has excellent instructional illustrations of how to do bead work, embellish with ribbon flowers, leaves, lace and material. There are several pages dedicated to the art of embroidery beginning with one stitch at a time. The illustrations are detailed so that a beginner could follow any one of the presented projects and when finished no one would know it was their first work. It is an awesome book and I am so happy that I made this purchase for it was worth every cent!

Great book! But!!!
I love Christen. I have her first book, which is great. Plus I've taken online classes with her, which were great. But where this book falls down is that there is NO "Table of Contents" and NO "Index" at the end. Which makes it a very inconvenient reference book! It's impossible to find anything without going thru the whole book! I love e-books and this is not the first time I have found this problem. FYI- Jane Davis - Bead Embroidery has the same problem.

Four different kinds of embroidery 🪡 embellishments.
Deals in four different types of embroidery embellishments -- traditional embroidery, raised and textured embroidery, silk ribbon embroidery, and bead embroidery. All with clear photos of how to create each stitch.

beautiful and inspiring
I’m a seasoned embroidery artist and while I feel this book may be of greater use to a novice, I found the work within inspiring and pleasurable to read
