A great read for those struggling to provide meaningful small group instruction.
I would highly recommend this book for all teachers, math coaches, and administrators. Making Sense of Mathematics for Teaching the Small Group is an excellent resource for teachers who are looking to provide meaningful small group instruction. The authors, Juli Dixon, Lisa Brooks, and Melissa Carli did a great job of helping educators set the purpose of high-quality small-group math instruction. The book contains tools, resources, examples, and real-world videos to support struggling students. While in small groups, students are encouraged to think critically, take ownership of their learning, and make sense of the math, just as in the other Making Sense of Mathematics books.

Great Practical How-To Resource for Teachers, Coaches, and Administrators!
Small group instruction is something that teachers, especially at the elementary level, are used to doing. This book helps readers examine WHY they use small group instruction and then provides readers with strategies for how to most effectively engage students in small group instruction that is student-centered and discourse-rich. Further, this book explains the authors' TQE process as it pertains to small group instruction. As a key component of this book, the videos (easily accessed by QR reader) are great and really help tie together the reading with examples! Great job Dixon, Brooks, and Carli!
