Zuidam 5 Year old Zeer Oude Genever is a product from the Dutch distiller Zuidam and is produced in the old fashioned zeer oude style. This genever is made in small batches with each one from a single barrel. Only the highest quality casks of Zuidam 5 Year old Zeer Oude Genever are bottled after it has been aged for at least five years. In the distilling process only the best of malted barley, rye and corn are used. The mash that comes from these grains is then distilled three times after a week of fermentation. Among the botanicals that are used in Zuidam 5 Year old Zeer Oude Genever include juniper, liquorice root and aniseed along with a few others. The use of only the best ingredients and new or very young casks being used results in a genever with a delicious rich vanilla flavour with toffee hints and a silky smooth texture.
