Can I take the wheels off or are they permanently on there?

Definitely NOT permanently on there. In fact after purchasing two of these, on each one, one of the casters just falls out any time I roll it.

Is this pet food storage container mouse proof?

Squirrels gnawed a whole in it and wiped out the birdseed in the container. NOT sqirrel proof.

exactly how many lbs of dog food will this hold?

A 35lbs bag of dog food fills up the 55qt one.

What is the difference between Iris Premium and Non Premium storage containers. Wondering if the plastic is thicker, wheels are better quality, etc

We had both. The premium is hands down better. The latch is more secure, creating a more airtight seal and the way it opens, down, is harder for animals to open.

Small profile, but holds a lot of dog food and wheels are great.

At first sight, you wouldn't think this storage container could hold 50# of dog food, but it sure does. The wheels are very handy for moving the container to vacuum the garage, too. The top seals tightly which will keep anu bugs out and humidity down. Would recommend.
