CruxCUL-03 Universal Lip-Mount Camera

I've had it on my car for about a year now with Pioneer AVH4200 and it works great. Love the OEM look.

I installed this in my 2017 Hyundai Sonata and it's perfect. The included hole saw helped get the job done sooner.

I've had the Crux CUL-03 camera installed in my vehicle for a while and it does work good. My car suddenly started blowing a fuse due to an electrical short. Turns out, the short was in the supplied wiring that comes with the backup camera. The short was located internally on the "regulator". Just be aware if you start experiencing an electrical problem with the circuit that you have this camera powered by. Your backup camera/wiring could be at fault. It would be nice if the regulator was replaceable without having to rewire the camera system. Due to the hassle of replacing the whole cable run in my vehicle, I was able to successfully splice the video cable and install new wiring with regulator after purchasing another backup camera. My backup camera is now operational and my electrical short has been resolved. I would still purchase this backup camera.

[update: 7/8/2019]Thought I would update this to increase the rating to 4/5 stars (from 3/5) simply because it's worked perfectly well in the 1.5+ years we've been using it in our 2010 Civic. Resolution is nice and the low light performance is very good. Yes, the angle is limited but it's okay still as it is hugely helpful in parallel parking which is how we park that car in front of our house on the crowded residential streets of Seattle. The camera itself just looks great with that "factory" look and I just bought another one to install in our other (even older) Civic. Also bought one as a "back up" in case either dies in the future, but so far it's been great. I do recall needing to crimp those tiny wires together so I can't raise the rating to 5/5 stars but I think 4/5 is fair.[original review: 12/15/2017]This camera is kind of a mixed bag.The good:- Good build quality, at least it feels and looks good.- Affordable price given it is not a no-name "brand" straight from China (although I'm sure it's manufactured there).- If you have a good place to mount this (and it should be mounted underneath a flat surface like a trunk license plate garnish trim piece, facing downwards at 45 degrees or so), this camera looks like an OEM camera. No stupid huge license plate frame or other obvious aftermarket camera. Don't need to worry about going through the car wash.- Fairly easy to mount. If you have the right space for it, it's simply a matter of drilling a hole with the included hole saw (22.5mm), inserting the camera thread through the hole and clamping down with the nut on the other end. No weathersealing strip is included but there is a piece of 3M tape that you can adhere the camera to the shelf in lieu of or in addition to the thread/nut. I personally applied some clear (although black would have been better) silicone to make sure it was waterproof.- Included cabling makes it easy to wire power from the tail lights and send video but also reverse trigger to the the HU, as there is a red wire that pops out shortly before the yellow RCA video male connector. You connect that red wire to the reverse sensor on your aftermarket (or OEM) head unit to get it to work on reverse. That red wire is a nice touch.- Camera seems decent quality. The image is of good resolution and seems to work well with low light. Better low light performance than our '14 Toyota Sienna OEM camera.The bad:- Can flip (horizontally) the image and remove the guidelines by stripping and connecting two very thin wires (white for guidelines and blue for image flip). Unfortunately, the wires are cut by default which is stupid since it is so much easier to cut those tiny, thin wires than it is to connect them together.- The **biggest problem** with this camera is that it cannot adjust at all, which is fine, but even for a roughly flat install (so pointing downwards at 45 degrees roughly), the camera points too low so that you see a lot of bumper and not more than a couple feet behind your car. This is for a 2010 Honda Civic and obviously if you have a taller car or higher mounting surface your view may be better, but there is really limited horizontal and vertical viewing (i.e. it is not wide angle at all). It helps basically just with not hitting something right behind you but not so much with parallel parking since it doesn't give you enough rear view depth.So to sum it up, nice cabling and relatively easy install with included hole saw and clean, OEM looking end result. Good low light performance, and with good lighting of course it looks fine. Unfortunately, the camera is not wide angle enough and points too much downwards for average car installations to provide as much utility as you would expect from a backup camera.

Really sad that you order a new item and it comes with everything but the main cable that runs to the front of the vehicle. Totally missing out of the box. Stop selling returned items.

Easy to install has a great view when backing up.
