If it’s on top of your back, you will want some kind of weighted blanket. **Q: Is there one this large you can heat??** A: No thank you **Q: Does it have a cover with it or can you use it directly on your body or do you have to use a towel?** A: It does not have a cover for it. I recommend using a pillowcase or if it is still to cold use 2 pillowcases. If you use a towel it tends to prevent to coldness from penetrating to your muscles correctly. I love the ice pack and bought 2 again when my Dad had his knees replaced and sent them to him to use. **Q: What is the size?** A: 11 1/2" x 7 3/4" If you feel you need a larger one, Amazon also sells one by Flexi Kold that is 14" x 11". We have purchased both and use them extensively. Using the cold packs from the freezer to ease pain from an abscess on my jaw. Bigger than I thought but that is my fault for not checking measurements, and will provide more handy in future for a wider range of uses. Stays cold for a good time, (using them for 10 minute intervals and stays nice and cold the whole time) and once back in the freezer gets cold again quickly too, so alternating between them is working great. The velcro is strong and the strap has a nice amount of stretch. Instructions written straight onto the packs is really helpful. Ease of use? Used for my hamstring and it was comfortable to place under my leg and great for the pain relief. Easy to fold in half.Easy to freeze and doesn’t take too long. The stitching is of good quality. Stability? Only thing i note is the material is a bit more rigid than others i’ve had and I’m noticing wear in places from when it is folded although i would imagine it will likely last the life of the product without leak.
