My Life in Football Paperback – 23 April 2015

Thoroughly enjoyed Sir Trevor’s book, he’s a West Ham legend and an old school footballer who plied his trade before the obscene salaries earned by many current players who are not fit to lace his boots. Along with Kevin Keegan he formed a great partnership for England, but the stark reality is both only played a few minutes of World Cup football, coming on as subs in the draw against Spain in 1982, that meant we progressed no further.His philosophy of football, and probably life, is heavily influenced by Ron Greenwood & John Lyall, his two outstanding managers at the Hammers.Reading about his time at West Ham in the sixties & seventies brought back many memories, and reminded me of the wonderful academy at the club which produced so many fine players, almost half the England team at one time.I had great respect for him as a player and later as an administrator, I have even more after reading this book.Enjoy your retirement Sir, it has been well earned.

I am a great fan of Trevor Brooking but found the West Ham match by match a little tedious. Otherwise a good read.

I love Sir Trevor..... One of my favourite ever Footballers. I used to love his unique, skillful original style.Great to read about his life in football. A true gent.

True Gentleman - both on the pitch and as an administrator. Never saw enough of him to put him into a list of top English players. He was a West Ham man through and through and could still be the man who saves English football.
