Excellent quality and finish
This is a great light with nice bright output and options to dim both the "moon" (blue) and "daylight" (white w/red) LEDs) settings. The controls are simple and effective. In the timer mode you can choose 8,10 or 12 hour options that begins whenever that is set, there is no option to choose a time. Timer is for 100% daylight mode only. When that time is up the light goes completely off. There is a 15 minute ramp up/down at each end of the time block. It would be nice if there was an option for the blue lights to remain on when the timer shuts the daylight off. Understanding that each feature adds cost, this is a very good light at a great price. It will be interesting to see how plants do with it. For now, it has taken the place of my overly expensive F****l light that the LED driver failed on, which would cost more to replace than this whole fixture.

Works
Works really well, grows all my submerged plants, I have a tall 20 gallon, which I put widthwise on one end of the tank. I like the timer, and the adjustable red/blue shift is pretty cool. The night light looks pretty cool. I don't use the functions very much any more, just leave it on timer so the plants get what they need. Update: almost exactly one year later, the light seemingly died. It did weird things, was really dim. Glad I found the amazon review that said holding W and B buttons down together resets it. Working back to normal. Thanks!

Great, reliable light for low tech planted tanks
I purchased this light after having an excellent Nicrew light on my first tank for years. The first one is on my 6 gallon nano tank and has been going strong since 2020. This light is on my rimless 20 long that I set up a year ago; it's a low tech, highly-planted and highly stocked tank. It's been fantastic. Very easy to set up and I appreciate that manually adjusting the lights doesn't reset the timer - so it is easy for me to turn the lights off early and then they still come on at the prescribed time the next day. The light level has supported dwarf hairgrass, hydrocotyle tripartita, japanese cress, anubias nana petite, and pearlweed with no problems. I have mini green neon tetras, lambchop rasboras, two otocinclus catfish, and a plakat betta in the tank, along with a variety of pond snails. Highly recommend!

Per my edit the light is junk
EDIT AS OF 12/20/25 - Had the light for 10 months. This week the timer function stopped working which is a huge deal. I unplugged it and tried to reset it. Plugged it back in and nothing. The light stopped working completely and wouldn't turn on. Same issue as the first light I had from them for a little over a year. Contacted customer support as they have a year warranty. After sending in a video showing the light was not working they *did* a full refund for me. Unfortunately won't recommend or buy again. In short if you don't feel like reading more - lights good but longevity/quality isn't there and you'll probably have to replace it sooner than later. This light does a good job for the pricepoint. I use the 48-60" size and it fits my 55 gallon perfectly. I really like the timer function so I don't have to manually turn it off and on. The reason I gave it 3 stars - this is my second time purchasing this light in less than 2 years. The first one worked and then I would have a hard time getting it to turn on. Then it stopped working completely. The company offers a warranty (basically money back from what I had read) for 12 months. When mine stopped working it was 5 months past the 12 months so I was out of luck. Also, be it Nicrew or Amazon's fault this light took *forever* to get to me. I knew when I bought it the light was supposed to be 5 day shipping. By the day it was supposed to arrive...had not shipped. Took a week to get to me after I ordered it. Take it or leave it but if you need the light be prepared to wait for it to arrive...reading the actual reviews of the seller (Nicrew) it seems to be a common issue no one wants to fix.

Pretty great with a couple caveats
Pros: Slim size Timer mode Independent white and blue mode Multiple brightness settings for white and blue lights Amazing customer service! Cons: Blue light doesn’t work with timer mode Timer appears to reset every time the unit loses power Could be jarring for fish? See below on that. Disclaimer: this is my first foray into an aquarium light specifically for growing plants. Prior to this light I was using two led tubes that fit into my hood. So I’m not the most experienced in these matters. I chose this light in particular for two reasons. 1) the timer mode which will automatically ramp up and down the lights and 2) the slim size which allows me to sit this light over my existing hood. I need to keep a cover on to keep my nerites safely inside and I didn’t want to invest in a new glass cover just now. This light sits directly on top of the acrylic portion of my existing hood with no light loss, which would have occurred with a wider light. This is working great for my set up without having to spend additional money on a glass cover. In terms of the timer mode, it’s pretty good but not perfect. I have some glo fish and my kids use the tank as a sort of nightlight so I really like the blue light and use this feature every night. But the timer mode does not operate the blue light. So after the ramp down at night I have to change the mode to blue. Then in the morning when the light timer switches on, it’s the blue light again. As far as I can tell, I have to switch the mode again before the unit will ramp up the daylight. That somewhat defeats the purpose of the light timer and the timer mode on the unit. But this would be a non-issue if I didn’t want to run the blue light at night. The timer mode also seems to fail if the unit loses power. The instructions are not exactly clear but I think what happens is the timer starts counting from the time the unit first receives power. It just happens that in the short time I’ve had this unit we’ve had some severe weather and power flickers. After that happened the tank would be dark every time and it seems like the timer was starting over from when I restarted the lights. So then I have to manually restart them and also shut them off at night. I could be wrong on this, and maybe it’s because my timer is a smart plug. Perhaps with an old school manual timer this wouldn’t happen. Another thing to consider (and here’s where it was definitely a noobie error) but this light is BRIGHT! I don’t think it was a coincidence that shortly after setting it up I had two fish jump out while I was working in the tank. I saw one and scooped him up immediately but sadly I didn’t see the other jump and found him on the floor a couple days later. If I had to do it again I would definitely take advantage of the unit’s multiple brightness settings and introduce the light more slowly. I can’t speak to how well this will grow my plants but I’ve just set up a c02 system and I’m hoping my low to medium light plants will really take off now. One other thing to mention is nicrew’s amazing customer service. The first light I received was missing the power supply so I reached out directly to them. The communication with nicrew’s customer service was prompt, extremely courteous and helpful. I received a replacement power supply within a few days. Overall I’m happy with this light. Even though it has a couple of weak points, it’s also an entry level light and priced accordingly. If I ever end up upgrading I would not hesitate to buy another nicrew!

I like the product, it lights up my 21L aquarium nicely. However, be aware that if ordering for Australia/NZ that it ships with an USA AC Plug and you will require to use or purchase your own power adapter before being able to use it. The product page does not state this and the seller's response is simply to offer a return.
