Great, solid and well-made, but too heavy and some niggles
IMO this is the best of the mono-tripods and the base is solid enough to hold a full frame camera if placed with care. The monopod is smooth, easy to handle with gloves, or at speed in the cold, and is comfortable to carry around when moving about getting multiple shots. The tripod based is study, but a bit too 'unpolished' - the folded edges of the feet don't feel great, the rubber feet are simply glued in place (yes, I've lost one already) and the fold/unfold hinge is stiff and feels a bit 'just bolted together' - a pity after the smooth operation of the monopod. The base is really heavy though and quite bulky - it became often left behind because of the time to adjust and weight. YMMV but I found for iPhone video the monopod alone was enough of a base.Fixing the tripod feet is done with a screwed nut. It's slower than the other quick-set options on the market, but it's very stable and I think the loss of speed is worth it for the stability.Improvements/annoyances?* tripod could be lighter. Really - please!* when you attach the tripod you need to unscrew the rubber button at the bottom of the monopod... WHY is there no ready hole into which you can screw this? It'd be a pain to lose and it's a pain to stow/remember.* would have been nice to have a wrist strap (like those on walking poles) rather than the very thin one provided. It's like one for a compact camera and it rubs up and down on the flat strap holes, looking like it'll wear through. Webbing would have been better and I've had to add as an 'aftermarket' update. That said, the three strap holes are surprisingly useful.Overall, I think it's the best buy out of the current crop of monopods - for weight, smoothness of operation and quality of construction. A few tweaks and it'd get 5*, but for your use the drawbacks might be positives...

Perfection
Not cheap, but great quality and function. This is an excellent monopod, carbon makes it light but exceptionally strong, look at the load bearing capacity. I've paired mine with a Desmond DMH 2 tilt head and its a great combination. The optional foot is also worthwhile for a bit of extra stability and the option of using it as a table tob support.Highly recommended

Alan Monopod
Excellent product. Very well built. Only criticism is that would be nice if it was taller.
