These were great but not for a HOME SALE - they are not UL rated which is required in many states. If you just need them in your own, they work perfectly fine but if you need a fire inspection certificate - they won't meet the requirement.

We recently had an electrical fire in our barn... Thank God we were there to witness it and put the fire out. Now we feel much more comfortable knowing we will be alerted by our new smoke detectors that we installed. In testing them the sound was load enough to alert someone on the outside of the barn.

These are easy to install whether they are replacements or new. Screw in the backing to the wall or ceiling. When you attach the alarm itself to the backing and twist it into place the alarm sounds for 15 sec or so and then stops. Nowhere does it say that. We kept taking it off and starting over. Almost boxed them back up to return but let one beep till it stopped and then pressed it once to test it. It was fine. When you twist it in place the small button on the back is pressed in to activate it. It must cycle somehow. Wish it were in the instructions!

These detectors come in two pieces: 1) A base that you screw into the ceiling, and 2) The unit. Once I affixed the base, I installed the unit with a slight twist. That's all it took. The unit did a self-initiated test and then began to work (for the next 10 years on the already-installed battery). The only way this could have been easier is if the company provided double-sided pads (instead of screws and anchors) to affix the base into place. I give this five high-pitched tweets!

I don't like how bright the light is that flashes to let you know it's working. It's in my bedroom and will have to move it.

These seem to be solid smoke detectors. They were easy to activate and test. The flashing green light is very bright, so I wouldn't use it in a sleeping room, but it's great for the hallway.

We used to install alarm and fire systems for a living and my husband said these were nice detectors, easy to put up, and they are nice looking.
