This is a Dichroic Cube, not a CMY Cube.
This is what is known as a "Dichroic X Cube", this is not a CMY Cube; the glass is not colored (a CMY Cube is a different type of product). You may also find this product smaller than expected.Unfortunately, most "CMY Cubes" on Amazon are Dichroic Cubes. Sourcing a true CMY Cube seems difficult.Nonetheless, a Dichroic Cube is an interesting curiosity if you've never seen one before. They are used in various industrial applications. Any white light entering on one face will be split into blue exiting on one side, red exiting on the other, with the remaining (green-ish) passing straight through, with the clear top and bottom faces showing the edges of the "X" structure, which is nicer than some other "matt finish" X Cubes on Amazon.Despite being quite small, it is made to a very high standard, with the joins between the prisms being effectively invisible when viewed straight-through. The good quality suggests that this probably an industrial component resold as a toy (which is perfectly fine in my view).So overall, despite being small and a little pricey (from all suppliers), these cubes are nice, decorative objects that serve as a conversation-starter for the scientifically-minded.
