Thumbs are tight.
I purchased these gloves for use around my portable sawmill. Handling hardwood, green, rough lumber, can be hard on hands. Heavy weights of boards pose a crushing hazard when throwing around boards, during the trimming process. And square edges can remove a digit. Chainsaws are always present, and present another obvious hazard. And we handle large, razor sharp sawblades which always requires gloves. So I was looking for something that has good dexterity, and offers good crush and cut protection. These gloves are excellent at preventing back of the hand abrasions, brush-burns, knuckle busters, etc. This is where they excel. The inward portion of the glove (palm and finger pads) is "thin" which allows for good dexterity, but leaves the protection on the outside of the hand. They would probably not resist an errant utility knife razor cut, for example. For this reason, they lack when it comes to handling sharp sawmill blades.I do like that the neoprene cuff keeps sawdust from intruding into the glove. The wraparound velcro is a little cumbersome. Would be better to have a half-moon velcro split seam that just laps at the wrist. Something a little quicker and simpler -- I take my gloves on and off a lot.The "pull on" loop (supposed to aid in pulling on the glove?) is kinda redundant. I pull on the gloves with the cuff.Fit is good except for the thumbs which are too tight. Uncomfortably tight. I read other reviews that these gloves are a bit stiff when new. I've been using them for a couple of months now, and they are still uncomfortably tight.I think this glove would be good for masons using hammer and chisel, and handling rough blocks, stone, etc. It would be very good for motorcyclists, and stunt riders who whip through tight trails with brush, pickers, rosebush, etc. It's just OK for sawmill work, on balance. If it had a little more protection in the palms, it would be better suited.

These are awesome gloves. I can't say enough good things about them. They are heavy duty for sure. They do run large. A a typical size Large glove fits me snuggly. These gloves in a large leave me with a little wiggle room. So I would say order one size down if you are on the cusp of a two sizes.

great for anything
tough and highly visible. only downside is sizes are bigger then other gloves and seam stitching is a little to weak

Five Stars
they seem to run a bit larger than anticipated but functionality and construction is superb
