Over the air - anywhere on your LAN
This product is really easy to get running on a LAN. Just plug it in to the LAN, the antenna, and power and configure from an appropriate client. You can either watch shows or find content to record and set up the recordings. Android and Windows lets you view content and configure. The Roku client is view only. The playback is not always flawless. Not sure if it is because of antenna signal or something else. But generally, it works well. One thing I would like is a signal strength meter for channels. One thing I really like is being able to download shows that have been recorded. It has provided good HD recordings of daily shows I like to watch.

As a Tuner for Plex server it’s great
As a multiple tuner for use on a Plex server this thing is great. Using it as a stand alone DVR it’s terrible. Knowing what I know now I could have got away with the cheapest model because using this on a Plex server does not require the unit to have a hard drive only a tuner. If you use it with the HDHomeRun app on a Roku it’s horrible. You can’t fast forward or rewind so you are forced to watch commercials. If you use it on and IPhone you can. Buy using it as a stand alone device you are restricted to only using it on your own network not outside of it. Installed on a Plex server it works phenomenal. The Plex software removes commercials for you as well as allowing you to view recorded content anywhere in the world. Also using it with Plex you don’t need a hard drive in the unit you record all content to the hard drive in the server just give the app read and write access if you have it installed on a Synology Nas. Having 4 tuners it allows you to record 4 different shows at a time. So to wrap things up save yourself at least a hundred bucks and buy a basic unit if you are installing it on a Qnap or Synology server running Plex. If you run it as a standalone dvr you will not be happy.

Works great overall but, has sound sync problem
Overall, it’s a great product. Image quality is great. Sound is good. Interface is good but, could be more flexible. However, the audio will often get out of sync with the picture. You have to exit your program and go back to recording then start it again. Very annoying.I use the latest version of the firmware and an Apple TV.Update: I filed an issue with the company online. Someone got back and said they would look into the problem. Never heard back but, haven’t had any issues since. That was a few months ago.

Nothing good about this unit
This unit didn't work for me for the following reasons:1. Even though the channels are received on my TVs from my antenna crystal clear, some were not watchable on the box due to low signal strength.2. The interface is not intuitive, and is especially difficult to use on the Apple TV streaming players I have on the TVs in my house3. The sound did not come through on apple TV. I followed the instructions to get the sound to work, but their remedy for the issue didn't work in my case. The sound did work on Fire TV.I returned the SiliconDust unit and got the Tablo Quad instead. That unit works perfectly on all the streaming devices and all the channels are now received. Tablo is getting 5 stars!

After a month of use with my Synology Nas.
This was an easy setup on my Synology Nas. I waited a month before i gave it a rating. Works fantastic. Just make sure to pick the right antenna. 5 stars no problem.

Receiver not great
I got this to replace an Amazon Recast so I can stream open air to devices other than FireSticks. The Recast found 42 open-air stations that work. The HDHomeRun found 23 stations. They are both connected to the same antenna with an amplifier on the antenna on a 15' cable. The device works but the receiver does not work anywhere near as well as the Recast. At least the main channels I wanted are there and it will stream to my Nvidia shield. The interface is pretty bad and a pain to go through. If you are only using firesticks I would stick with a recast. This one was a big letdown. I was hoping to pick up an extra channel or two adding the amplifier to the line but this picks up 1/2 as many. But it did increase the quality of the channels on the recast.

Works exactly as expected.
I ditched the dish and went back to my TV tower antenna. The main TV is in a room without coaxed cables so I needed a way to get the signal Wi-Fi and this worked great. At the time I had to have something like Plex app but now the HD Homerun app is available through Apple TV.
