Heart of the Crown (Heir to the Crown Book 3)

A lifestyle change
One should be careful what you wish for as you might just get it. That is something prince Alric is about to discover in spades.Being third in the line of succession his future is uncertain and he certainly feels the effect thereof. He is not needed. Not really. A change of his lifestyle might just about do it.But then princess Anna of Mersenia arrived with her entourage to prevent a war between two countries breaking out. Oh, boy. Did his life change. All of a sudden. The Heart of the Crown is quite a time at over seven hundred pages, each page sparkling with adventure and danger and some rather nasty creatures all join as a whole new world opens up for everyone of these characters.Of course, reading non stop through the night and into the early morning hours is also not really recommended though perhaps inevitable.Enjoy

Great fantasy!
I enjoyed this third in the series very much. The characters are interesting and realistic with good world building. I highly recommend the entire series.

another great tale, thank you
What a cliff hanger though. I enjoyed the adventures of Anna and her friends as the traveled in what was a historically hostile neighboring country

Great immersive, gritty fantasy action & intrigue!
I just binge read books 1-3 and Battle at the River. Thoroughly enjoying this series, what a breath of fresh air. The writing style is best described as creative and mature. The author has created a well thought out world of different faction and peoples, which interact in realistic ways with understandable motives. I really enjoy his immersive writing style, rather than just talk about a journey or place, he describes it vividly. I also like his characters, they are well developed believable people who undergo a classic Hero's Journey of discovery challenge and growth. I also appreciate the balance between intrigue and action, and the battle scenes are top notch -- having done some shield bashing before, all of the action scenes make total sense and get down into the mud and blood.Well done, looking forward book 4 of the main series when it comes out!!

Princess Anna's Adventures in Westland
This book takes over where the others have left off with Princess Anna having convinced her King to let her go to Westland and be a political envoy. There she meets Prince Alric who is selfish, self centered, and lacking ambitions. We follow their delightful adventure as many people are poisoned, betrayed, and even killed. Both royals grow up through their travels and eventually have you rooting for them success, even Prince Alaric. It does end on a cliffhanger and I was disheartened to find the darkness having taken over on those that the Princess once thought we’re loyal. But the twist at the end brings to light what darkness is spreading throughout the land and how it has been planned for quite some time. Can't wait to start the next book!

Heart of the Crown
The author has created a complete world populated with characters both good and bad. Some become like family, others as friends and some to avoid! I am amazed at how complete and complex the story is!

Knights To The Rescue
Another great book, full of great characters and fascinating situations. This is looking like Hayley and the mage may have something going on. Gerald's relationship with Anna is great and the father-daughter is a touching line. I don't know what the rest of the books hold in store but I will read them to find out how they escape from the dungeon after coming back home. This is the first of many books that I have read about knights that have female knights. I don't mind as long as they can tow the line. Thanks, Mr. Bennett for another greatly entertaining book. On my way to number four.

More intrigue and action... A fun romp...
Yet another tale of intrigue, action and humour... The introduction of new characters and personalities to the series is well implemented... Paul Bennetts writing draws the reader into each character in an easy and effective manner, making for thrilling dialogue and action scenes throughout...I would have given 5 stars, however I was disappointed to note that following on from the next book (Book 4), there is to be yet another 3 books!!! Is this a series or a serial? I, for one, would enjoy a conclusion at some stage...
