Tyrrific fun kids activity for the holidays.
Our kids had a great time using the baking set. They found making and shaping the gingerbread straightforward. Applying the icing is more tricky. We were all happy with the appearance of the finished baked dinosaurs. The taste of the gingerbread is suitably mild for children.Much as our children liked the gingerbread, they most enjoyed making and playing with the snappy peg puppets. This kit makes a great gift, at a reasonable price.

Just get the ingredients instead
Following the instructions makes the mix far too dry and crumbly to work with. Also overpriced for a cutter, icing and some cookie mix.

Attractive presentation, appealing, and simple. But SO expensive for what’s included
I think encouraging children to cook and do craft themed activities to accompany their cooking is admirable, and this little biscuit-making set is nicely presented. However, for what you get the set is really overpriced at the current asking point of £25.The box comes wrapped round with a colourful sleeve with all the making instructions on the back, and the cut out and colour dinosaur heads craft activity printed on the inside of the sleeve - this has been designed so that the cut out bits aren’t on the same side as the instructions. The set includes: a packet of gingerbread mix, a packet of icing sugar, a disposable icing bag, a sheet of baking paper, a T-Rex biscuit cutter, and a dinosaur bones stamp to create the indents in the biscuits to flood fill with icing. The wooden pegs and sticky tape needed for the craft activity aren’t included (at £25 - and this seems to have come down a bit from £28 when ordered - they really should have been), and the gingerbread mix needs butter, syrup or honey, and milk or boiled water added to it so it’s not a complete/just add water/milk kit. The product images rather misleadingly show two different shapes of dinosaur biscuits, neither of which is the T-Rex design actually included in this kit.The gingerbread mix is nice and simple, containing just flour, light brown sugar, bicarbonate of soda, and ginger extract. The little packet weighs roughly 220g, and there’s about 180g of icing sugar. This is a single use activity - though you do get the biscuit cutter and stamp to use with your own biscuits made from scratch or to add to a play dough box.One of the nice aspects of cooking with children is that weighing and measuring gets a bit of practical, real world maths in, but with a largely pre-done mix, a lot of this is lost. And I do struggle with the idea of paying £25 for about half a pound of simple gingerbread mix. I could see paying something like £12-£15 for a nicely presented set and the cutters, but even with the way food prices have been going up £25 for a little bit of flour, sugar, bicarb, and ginger seems extortionate.

Craft & Crumb Dinosaur Kit - Upmarket Baking Kit Great Gift Idea
It’s a fun but great way to get into baking for younger ones. Everything apart from butter and honey is included in it. The icing easy to do with water and best of all everything is already measured out in packets. One of those gift ideas you could send out and the item be enjoyed for a birthday treat or such. The cutters are cute and I think you get the right ratio of dinosaurs in the pack.If your having a sleepover could be a good one to keep any youngsters or even teenagers entertained.Just everything about the kit makes it look and feel like an upmarket fun past time to do yes even for adults that help.

Delicious gingerbread taste and fun to make
The Craft & Crumb T Rex baking kit is great fun and it makes the most delicious gingerbread dinosaurs. The kit contains a packet of baking mix, a packet of icing sugar, a piping bag, a sheet of parchment paper and a T Rex cookie cutter with a stamp insert. You just need to add 70g butter and 4 tablespoons of syrup (or honey) to make the cookie dough and a little bit of milk or boiled water to make the icing.I thought my dough looked a bit dry after I added the syrup but it did come together, so don’t be tempted to add more syrup as the mixture is sweet enough. The kit states that it can make up to 10 cookies and I managed to make 8, although mine were rolled to a thickness of 6mm instead of 5mm. I was more than happy with 8 as they fit on 2 baking trays and if I’d had any more I would’ve needed a third tray. You only get 1 sheet of parchment paper, which I cut in half and used it to line both of my baking trays. You need to roll your dough in between 2 sheets of parchment paper so I had to use my own sheets of parchment paper for this (I actually used flattened air fryer liners, which I always have in the kitchen). The cookies came off the parchment paper surprisingly easily, after being left to cool. The icing was a little tricky to apply and mine were a bit messy but I still had fun decorating them. They looked good without icing so I would definitely use this cookie cutter with stamp insert again. The gingerbread is lovely and I would buy a packet of this mixture alone if it was made available outside of the kit.The instructions are clear and easy to follow so this kit is great to make with children or if you have little baking experience. Priced at £25 (at the time of review), it is very expensive but it would make a lovely gift for a young baker and the cookie cutter will be reused many times over.
