NOT permanent, smudges easily, not ideal for mail
I had two problems with this ink pad 1) The ink was not distributed evenly so part of my stand was darker than the other. I had to correct for this by placing my stamp on the pad once, then flipping the ink pad upside down and then placing my stamp on the pad again. This was tedious and unnecessary. My biggest complaint was 2) After stamping and letting dry for about 10 minutes, the ink on my envelopes was transferred everywhere. So, when I grouped all my envelopes together in a pile, I noticed that ink was smudging everywhere even though it was dry. Over 30 christmas cards RUINED! I was not happy with the stamp for my purposes. Maybe it's because this stuff is washable? Who knows. I think this would be great for someone who wanted to do a craft and wanted to wash this off easily but not a great item for use with mail. Sadly I have to toss this in the trash and get something else.

Crafters spend $$$ but we like things to last
I am an experienced crafter who has bought stamps pads for many, many years. Color Box hasn't always impressed me. Just in the past two years the stamp pad casing itself has been made of thinner plastics. They don't clamp as tight as other manufacturers so I find their stamps dry up faster....which is probably what they want so you buy more.I think they have underestimated crafters. Crafters spend $$$ but we like things to last. We like high quality products. And I find Color Box is cheapening their products. So beware of what you buy from Color Box. There are other manufacturers on Amazon that give you better products for your dollar.

Sailboat color smears everywhere!
I purchased this ColorBox ink in 2 colors, the Metallic Gold and the Sailboat color for my wedding invitations (I purchased a stamp of my address to make things easier). The Metallic Gold looks great on my dark envelopes and after some time drying, does not smear. However, the sailboat color NEVER sets and for some reason seems to be a bit raised on my RSVP envelopes. I let my RSVP return envelopes dry in my craft office for 3 days (which should be more than enough time for any ink, certainly less time than the Metallic Gold) before assembling my invitations and they still smeared when I put the whole thing together. I ended up buying a different color blue ink that did not smear and MUCH prefer it to this ink because the Sailboat color ruined several of my expensive wedding invitations!

20+ years of using this brand and never disappointed!
I have never been disappointed with ink pads from ColorBox and that includes this purchase. I have used this brand for 20+ years and a variety of sizes and I love them all. The quality is great and the value for price is awesome. They will last you for a very long time if you store them upside down so the ink stays in the top of the ink pad. I love all of my ColorBox ink pads!

Good stamp pad
Arrived in good condition and it works like it ought to work. The pad is moist with ink, the color is solid and nice dark black, the cover fits squarely over the pad (although could be easily knocked off if you're someone whose cat likes to rummage through your stuff...and that could be a mess, so you might want to store this where the cat can't get to it. Ask me how I know this). No complaints about the product itself, although a latching lid would be a great upgrade.

The first few smudged terribly, wasted money having to throw out invites
The back of it says it's meant to be blended. Used these for wedding invites not knowing that, I don't see it anywhere in the description. The first few smudged terribly, wasted money having to throw out invites. I tested the next few, let them dry for days - 3 days later still not dried. Never seems to dry. I ended up doing the rest by spraying hairspray a couple hours after stamping, laying them all out separately, letting them dry for a day or so. Not the ideal solution. Probably great if you're wanting to blend, not at all if that's not the intent.

Stamping Pad Worked Well
I used these stamping pads in a class I taught at the library. They were used to color the top section of a folded book to help create the look of Santa's hat. The color went on well and was easy to manage with the raised pad. The red color is quite vivid. All who took the class felt the pads made the job of coloring the hat a simple technique. Thank you for the quick turnaround time on this wonderful product.

Lengthy Dry Time
We used it on Christmas cards & customer invoices w/various Holiday stamps. Not sure of the differences in inks but this one will smear until completely dry...45-60 min depending on material its used on. Needless to say I made a few messes before figuring this out. However once it is dry it has an amazing high quality look to it. So if you don't mind waiting....
