Great addition to a Kitchen Aid mixer
Bought this as a gift for a friend who loved baking and loved her Kitchen Aid mixer. She absolutely loved it and still uses it to this day. The convenience of having the measurements on the sides so easily viewable pretty much turns it into a giant measuring cup. Locks in tight with the mixer and doesn't wobble at all. Very sturdy and thick glass means it's durability should last. The handle is thick and easy to grip. It does weigh noticeably more than the stainless steel bowl that most are used to so keep that in mind if you're going to moving your mixer around on a regular basis.

KA K5GB 5-Quart Tilt-Head Bowl: A Learning Curve for Removing the Bowl from the Base Clamping Plate
This tilt-head 5-quart bowl is beautifully crafted with measurement markings on it and comes with a lid. The bowl can be placed in both the freezer and the microwave (after removing the rubber thread ring, which came pre-installed). When I screwed the bowl onto my Artisan 5-quart stand mixer bowl base clamping plate, it fit fine. However, when I tried to remove it, it was stuck. I then ran an internet search and found a video that one other buyer made to address this very problem: Instead of unscrewing the bowl counter-clockwise, I had to counter-intuitively unscrew it by continuing to screw it more tightly! At this point, the rubber ring popped up and the bowl could easily be removed. We thankfully have a very active, helpful, KitchenAid user online community for sharing tips to help others solve problems that they have had. Some buyers wouldn't think to run an on-line search to try to fix this, while others might get upset and call KitchenAid for help. Still others would get mad, send the item back to Amazon (a reseller which isn't KitchenAid), and ask for a refund. KitchenAid could have caught this problem during its Quality Control 6 Sigma Checklists if they had gone through these lists with my bowl. Note that if I had bought this bowl directly from the KitchenAid site instead of Amazon, I would give this bowl 4 stars; I can't blame Amazon for this problem, so I am giving Amazon 5 stars for reselling a great product, processing it quickly, sending it to me in a timely manner, and selling it for a great price.

AWESOME second bowl for my mixer
I received the classic KitchenAid 4.5 quart stand mixer for Christmas, and it became immediately apparent that as much cooking as I do, I needed a second bowl. The 5 quart glass bowl *does work* with the Classic model and fits perfectly in the stand. I actually prefer the glass bowl over the original stainless that came with the mixer since it's slightly larger. Made from heavy glass and the handle is a huge plus, not to mention it has a lid also. I made an Italian Cream Cake for Christmas which called for beaten egg whites to be added to the cake batter, and it was so nice to be able to change out the bowl and beater for another bowl with the whisk to beat the eggs. For people who are having trouble with the mixer not mixing ingredients in the very bottom of the bowl, I'll share a tip I found on another review which came straight from KitchenAid customer service. If you place a dime in the bottom of the bowl with the flat beater attached, the beater should move the dime about 1/4" or so when you turn the mixer on. It shouldn't hit the bowl, but it should at least move the dime. This is easily accomplished by adjusting the screw at the base of the tilt head - VERY SMALL increments, then re-test. I had to adjust my brand new mixer and now it mixes everything in the bottom of the bowl perfectly. Don't hesitate to buy this bowl if you need an extra. It is worth every penny, and Amazon is much cheaper than other stores we checked.

Perfect Bowl
I have no idea why I waited so long to buy this bowl. It's perfect. It twists on and off with no problems like some have stated. No jamming or getting stuck at all. The pour spout is way convenient. The glass is quite thick which I hope means it'll be durable and last(I'm sure it will). I love being able to see through to my ingredients and having the measure marks on the side is so nice too. It is about 1-1.5 inches wider than the original steel bowl it came with(including the spout). I have the artisan 5qt and this fits like a glove.😉 my mixing attachments fit nicely into the bowl for storage. I simply love having a bowl with a lid that snaps on for storage. Like, I seriously love it! No more saran wrap that won't cling...lol It is obviously heavier but that's completely OK with me. No heavier than my cast iron I'm sure. Just a perfect bowl..😍😍 we were obviously meant to be together.....Happy Cooking!

Love it!
I absolutely LOVE this mixing bowl. I bought it to go with my KitchenAid Artisan Series 5 Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer in Boysenberry . It is large in size, which is great. It fits perfectly well on my mixer. The lid is great for storing food/excess mixture in the fridge. It seals perfectly well. I actually have this bowl in my fridge right now with left over mashed potatoes that I made in it with my mixer. Since it is glass, obviously you can watch while your mixing and know that everything is being incorporated and mixed thoroughly. It is a bit pricey, but I feel like it is worth it. It is very heavy and looks great. I expect it to last... forever. If you keep checking back here at Amazon and look where it says "Used and New from xxx.xx" you can find great deals on them. "Used" usually just means it was a return, but never actually used. I bought mine that way and saved 30 bucks! It was listed as "used" and said "packaging may be damaged." When I received it, you could tell it was clearly brand new, never out of the box and definitely not used. The box did look a little messed up, a corner of it was a little crushed, and some of the graphic was like scratched up, but who cares about the box?? It saved me a lot of money and was perfect.

Glass rocks!
When that special anniversary Cherry Red Kitchen Aid mixer came out a couple of years ago, I was really tempted to get one just for the glass bowl. But I already have a mixer, so I resisted temptation. Recently I saw they have those new metallic ones with glass bowls, and I thought they must be selling replacement bowls for them. Then I found this bowl on Amazon. I'm so happy! I love being able to see everything in the bowl. This is especially good for when I'm making cake batter and want to ensure all the flour got mixed in. I also like it for taking photos for my baking blog. The pour spout is also excellent for pouring liquid batters into pans. There are a few cons to this bowl. First, the spout means you have to be more careful about how you attach the bowl. Additionally it comes with a cover, but it doesn't seal. Finally, I have a third party scraper paddle but I won't use it with this bowl, since it just doesn't seem to fit correctly. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and glad I didn't have to spend $300+ on a new mixer just for a nifty glass bowl.

Have not used the other bowl since I got this one. Love it so much I had to reorder immediately when I broke it
I love it so much that when I broke mine while washing it this morning (got a little spazzy with Playtex gloves on and it hit the cast iron sink pretty good) I immediately logged on and ordered a replacement. That's love. I do make a lot of bread in my KitchenAid (multiple times per week, I almost never buy commercially made bread) and I absolutely love being able to see the dough at the bottom and how it's sticking tells me exactly whether I've got too much or not enough water. I bake bread so much that I can tell based on how it's sticking or cleaning off the side whether I've got enough water in it. I really can't believe I waited so long to buy it. When I put mine on I wedge it with the pour spout against the mixer head support so that it can't move. If it didn't do that I feel like you might risk banging it around but if you wedge it, it's solid in place and no issues. The one thing I do miss is the pour spout, not so much for pouring but for keeping the flour in the bowl. What I do is clip a clean towel over the top of it with a chip clip and go to town. I think I'm going to glue or sew some velcro to a towel and have it be a permanent solution. Maybe I'll invent something. I LOVE the cover and how it keeps the bowl clean. Big time-saver. In reality though I'd say that even with that one drawback with the pour spout, it's only a half-star off the final grade and I'd say that the fact that I ordered a new one within a half hour of having broken mine is pretty strong evidence that this is AWESOME.

Awesome Addition
The Bowl is Awesome, I love it. I love the fact that it has a cover so I can pre-mix stuff then chill it in the fridge. The bowl is bigger than the Stainless Bowl, wider. Love having the measurements on the side as well. This is definitely a bowl that will get lots of use and actually maximizes the usage of my Kitchenaid Mixer because now I have 2 bowls to work with when making one recipe. No cleaning in between! YAY!

Produit original : très bien
Acheté pour remplacer un bol en verre de 6 ans d'âge que j'ai cassé. Le socle en plastique semble un peu moins solide que l'ancien. Mais fonctionne parfaitement.
