When Nobody Was Watching: My Hard-Fought Journey to the Top of the Soccer World

I loved, loved this book. I'm a big soccer girl and this book gave me lots of motivation.

Very well written book with very lively descriptions of events but at the same time not too technical for the non-football/soccer fan to follow. It takes a lot to expose your insecurities to people but it ends with overcoming them and winning the World Cup, Golden Boot and ballon d'or, then why not? A great page turner.

If you want to learn about Ms. Lloyd, the person, there are a couple of chapters in the book. At times she writes more about others than herself. The rest of the book is merely an uninspired description of games. For which one is better off seeing the actual games in YouTube.

This was an easy read and a "down to earth" expression of the joys, victories and bitter disappointments that come with, not only getting to an elite level as an athlete, but staying there, working towards a career and longevity. I was not aware of the depth of sacrifices made in order to pursue this type of "Dream". So glad I purchased and read it cover to cover.
