Outstanding Account Of This Legendary Guitar
There are many fine books about the Les Paul, the Telecaster and the Stratocaster, but the Gibson ES-335 has been comparatively overlooked, despite the guitar's fame and popularity. Tony Bacon has addressed this with another superb guitar history book. If you have encountered any of his other works you will know what to expect. The book is amazingly comprehensive, detailed and fascinating. Bacon gives due regard to the range of variations of the 335, including, importantly, many little known models, and with a nod to the Epiphone variations. He also includes comments from a huge range of people involved in the creation and the use of these guitars. As with all of Bacon's books the photographs of the instruments are superb and there are plenty of historical photos as well.If you are a fan of the Gibson ES-335 or its cousins, this book is an essential purchase. I found it more interesting than his earlier works because of the paucity of information at large compared to other guitar models. Indeed, Bacon's last few guitar histories have been his best and this one is as good as any. A fine addition to your music library.

Great source of ES-335 information
This book is a great source of information about the history of the ES-335 and its numerous variants (330, 339, 345, 355, ...etc.) The book is loaded with information and stories that will be fascinating to any ES-335 fan. If you're buying a 335, reading this book should be part of your due diligence, so you can make an informed buying decision, especially if you're considering an older "vintage" model...although you don't have to buy "vintage" to get a great guitar. As the book explains, Gibson Memphis is producing ES-335s today that are as good or better than they have ever been. If you're wondering why you should pay the high price these guitars fetch as the price of admission when there are so many less costly knockoffs, this book might give you some clues. But if nothing else, it should motivate you to go out and play one, and see what all the fuss is about.

Well written, an easy read with lots of pictures.
I have a 355 which this book covers also, not as extensively as the 335 but there is some info. I found out for instance that only three 355's like mine were made in 77 and I bought it in Canada. I found the 335's in store a little too 'trebly' back then so the dealer arranged for me to go to the Gibson warehouse, on the outskirts of Toronto, to try out a 355, which I found to be mellower (for jazz). So at least one of the three must have been shipped up there from Kalamazoo.

Excellent book
Excellent book. I’m enjoying reading about the history of a revered guitar. Gibson tried to make changes to it but it was perfect as is. Liked the photography.

A Source of 335 Knowledge
A beautifully written, informative book on the history and development of the classic 335. The pictures were breathtaking, and made you actually want to cradle a 335 as you were reading. My wife, who’s been around my guitars all her life, and who herself is an artist, found this book to be one of the best documentations of the instrument ever! Bravo... an excellent source for all that is Gibson 335!

I have no idea but my husband seems to like it!
I gave this to my hubby for xmas because i knew he wanted a Gibson 335 solid body and this way i can say i gave him one. Yay loopholes! But he says it's really good, he's not one for picking up a book for fun so it's nice to see him actually enjoying a book! I perused through it before i gave it to him and it was interesting, talked a lot about the different guitars, who played what, and overall things i just totally don't understand.
