4 YEARS! Works like a gem! | In-depth Review | Rami Taha
Quality Rating: 4/5Based on price: 5/5Time with Product: 4 years (purchased in 2017)Review:I've had this light bulb for 4 years now. It has worked beautifully with my Amazon Alexa, and I truly love the company KASA. I think they produce great quality products that have great longevity and durability. I love the dim feature of the light bulb, it truly allowed me to set the scene just right for whatever I was doing.100% for reading.75% for chilling in my room.50% chilling at night and getting ready for bed.25% in-bed relaxing before sleep.0% While sleeping. Sometimes, I would use it as a night light: 5%.The great part-- I scheduled all of that. So, at exactly 9:30pm everyday (unless I specify otherwise) my routine starts where everything is timed perfectly that the moment I finish settling into my bed, the light automatically turns off and I am ready to rejuvenate.I would highly recommend anyone who is into smart devices and loves cool tech like this to purchase this smart bulb. It is super cool and really nice to tech out a room. Plus, imagine waking up or going to bed and just saying: "Alexa, turn off the light."A couple of years ago, it was like a dream come true. In 2021, I got used to it. This is part of my everyday lifestyle and I cannot imagine living without the substantive amount of tech I use in my bedroom.I hope my review makes sense and helps you decide whether or not you would like to purchase this device.Have fun shopping! :)- Rami Taha

Good reliable smart plug (mostly)
I’ve had this smart light bulb for several years now. I recommend it, but with some caveats. It’s reliability/stability of its connection is quite good...in the beginning I had some issues with it, every couple of weeks it would go offline and need manual restarting, but they have since updated the software and I haven’t had a problem with it losing connection in a long time now.The light output is decent, not super bright for intricate task lighting, but bright enough for normal use.I used to schedule it to turn on bit by bit in the morning to simulate a sunrise. I had to create four different actions within a scene to have it turn up to a certain brightness every ten minutes in order for it to brighten gradually though. I would love to see smarter scenes that support gradually increasing or decreasing brightness over a user-specified amount of time (ie, turn on slowly over the course of half an hour to wake me up, or turn off by dimming for a minute). Then you can change the whole scene start time (like for waking up later on the weekends) without having to change the timing of each step manually. I haven’t seen this supported by any smart devices though, so no points off for it not being an option.I recently moved the lightbulb into a new lamp at a new house, and now Alexa says “server unresponsive”. However, Kasa’s app could still control it no problem. I thought it was some incompatibility with my new network, but I have plenty of other iot devices on it controlled by Alexa no problem. I think it may be due to the metal shade that the new lamp has...Kasa says that can block internet signal. I don’t know why that would prevent Alexa from controlling it but the Kasa app has no problem. For now I put a regular light bulb back in the lamp and control it with a smart plug instead.

Alexa... turn on living room.
The media could not be loaded. I purchased these to use alongside my Amazon Echo and Amazon Echo Dot. Set up was pretty easy. Simply screw in the light bulb into the socket, wait for it to blink 3 times, and complete the process by using the TP-Link app "Kasa". The app will ask you to connect to the built-in WiFi from the bulb, then enter the credentials (username and password) for your home wireless network. You can set a schedule (via the Kasa app) where your light bulb automatically turns on and off (see attached pic). This does NOT require an Amazon Echo device. The Echo devices prove convenient by also allowing you to turn the light bulb on and off by saying, "Alexa turn on/off device name." I would highly recommend getting an Echo device; the Echo Dot is affordable and does the job nicely. An Amazon Echo device will also allow you to group 2 or more smart enabled devices. In my case, my living room ceiling fan has 4 light bulb sockets. I named each one LR1, LR2, LR3, and LR4 respectively. Using the Alexa app, I grouped all 4 light bulbs as "LIVING ROOM." In the attached video, you can hear me control the lights simply by saying, "Alexa, turn on living room". Note: I only had 2 light bulbs when I first created my video, but I got another 2 to complete the set during Christmas. The reason why I knocked down 1 star from my review is the following:1) The light bulbs tend to lose their connection to your home wireless router when using the light switch to turn them off. You would think that since it is already "paired" that it would remember the network name/password once the light switch is turned on again. This is not the case. When the power is cut off completely for a long period of time, you have to "pair" the light bulb again for some strange reason. I've had to do this twice already. And no... there are no firmware updates available. It's current and up to date.2) Other TP-Link smart devices (light switch) have an "Away" feature available in the Kasa app where the device randomly turns on and off during a period of time of your choosing to give the appearance that someone is home. This feature, however, is not available for the light bulbs. I'm not sure of the technical reasons for disabling this feature on the light bulbs, but I would love for this feature to be available on the light bulbs as well.

Bought for babys room
We had a baby and didn't want to wake the baby when we had to turn on lights, so we got these. We use alexa to turn it on and off, and keep it at 1% dimness, so that it doesn't wake the baby during night feedings. For us, this has been amazing. We actually bought more and have them throughout certian rooms. When we're holding the baby, it's so nice to be able to tell Alexa to turn the lights on or off, instead of reaching for a switch when you're sitting down with a passed out baby.Super easy to install (install app on your phone, plugin light, go through steps.. boom done).

Works great with Amazon Echo!
The media could not be loaded. This is our 3rd TP-Link wifi bulb in the living room. Very convenient to use along with Amazon’s Alexa. The bulbs were easy to install. After installing each bulb using the Kasa app, I went into my Amazon Alexa app and grouped all 3 light bulbs together so they would all turn on/off with one voice command to Alexa. The bulbs are hard to find in stores. I bought my first one at Bestbuy over a year ago but they don’t carry them anymore. Amazon was the only place I could find more.Another con is the price of the bulbs. 30.00 is pretty pricey for 1 bulb.

Easy to set up and use
This is a fairly easy smart lamp to set up. There is a light in the corner of my house that is hard to reach and too dark to find the switch. Out of pure laziness I decided to get this so I can order Alexa to turn on the light for me. This lightbulb provided an easy solution. But you do have to download its app first to set it up. Once you have connected the bulb with its proprietary app, then you can hook it up with a home assistant like Alexa or Google Home.It is a bit pricey but for lazy people like me I guess it's worth the extra ten bucks. Bulb seems to be pretty good quality and hasn't burned out yet.
