Q: I thought sheep weren't harmed for wool, but since the underside is leather, does that mean this came from slaughtered sheep?

It says ethically sourced. Which means they aren’t killed JUST for their pelts. As mentioned by the company, the pelts would be wasted as a byproduct of the meat industry if they didn’t take them and turn them into useful products. I’m not sure what you thought the “skin” in sheepskin meant or how you thought skin could be harvested without the sheep being killed but I think you should just look for a blanket made with wool.

Farmers must meet an animal’s physical, health, and behavioral needs, and must alleviate pain or distress. The pelts are still a bi-product of the meat industry, as they were not raised solely for their pelts, but the animals were treated humanely throughout their lives.

I gave the lambskin I ordered as a gift, so I don't have it to measure, but the size was absolutely big enough for a baby with room to spare. The size ratio was about what the picture shows. My son received his "lamby" 25 years ago and used it for years. When tiny, he slept on his back. As he grew, it became a "floor rug" for playing and watching TV. This lambskin was the softest and finest quality of any I have ordered via Amazon.

Unfortunately I was unable to receive this item because of problems at customs into Israel.
