NRS Healthcare Newel Post Left Handed Grab Rail

Simple, strong, efficient. My wife had a couple of bad falls a few months back and had difficulty in getting up and down stairs, Our local social services fitted one of these at no cost to us and it has proved (probably quite literally!) a life saver. So when my Mum had similar difficulties due solely to age I had no hesitation in getting her one via Amazon. Easy to fit. Zero maintenance. The 1-inch diameter of the bar is a good choice too. Yes, you do need to supply 6 screws yourself but then you get to choose the length/strength of the screws so not really a problem. At first, 27 inches may seem a bit long - in practice this gives you more accessibility at the top and bottom of the rail, which is where the user first needs it, so long is good. Caution: at the time of writing the left-handed and right-handed versions on Amazon had the same product photo.Choose carefully!

Such a benefit I didn’t think I use it often but find I do and it was bought for my aged mother to help her but I like it now. Must get another for top of stair as she pointed it out and good idea.

Excellent safety measure. Discovered the neighbours had one, which was very good when their young children negotiated the right-angled bend at top of their stairs. I searched and discovered the rail on Amazon and bought one. The price is moderate, but the effectiveness in adding safety to the right-angled bend at top of stairs where stairs narrow considerably, is immense. Over the years we have had 3 adults fall on our stairs as a result of trying to go down where the stairs narrow, Hopefully this rail will prevent such accidents occurring. We are elderly now and found the Newell Post Rail extremely useful to hold with the left hand whilst holding the bannister rail with the other. We bought the Left fitting rail, but the Right fitting rail is equally as effective in or neighbours house.

Excellent aid

Does the job. Alignment is good, sits square. Its not the best finish, paint flaking on and and bolt holes ( easily touched up though). Nothing to hide screws, so look to buy decorative caps, or SS dome headed screws. Anything that will make fixings look a little more discrete.
