Five port USB PCIe card. 2 USBc & 3 USB3.2
The ASUS motherboard for our office desktop machine has what seems to be an inherent fault from new. Its USB system frequently 'crashes', it carries on working but can no longer be controlled via any of its onboard USB ports, making it essentially useless. This is the 2nd motherboard for this machine, the previous one did the same every few minutes from first power up and was replaced by Amazon. This USB card was bought to connect the keyboard & mouse as a workaround, so we can continue using the machine. So far it works but it seems the machine can no longer be woken by the mouse, we now have to use the power button. Not a real problem, we will see if we can live with it. So far, so good.

Works like a charm
I got this as there was a good deal on at the time to plug into my PCIE 4x slot.I did read a review questioning whether it would work with Windows 11 so decided to write this. The card was picked and worked straight away. I have Windows 11 23H2 OS and the motherboard uses the 590 chipset. I did not need any drivers so if you have at least a 590 motherboard it should work without any problems. If you get any issues then it might be that earlier motherboard chipsets have an issue seeing it.

Working well for me using Windows 10.. Some people might have problems with Win11.See below.
Works well for me using Windows 10. I was going to upgrade to Win11. There was no mention in the item description for Win11. Was curious about this..Asked the seller if it would work with Win11.They said " This usb pcie cards may have compatibility issues with Dell, Asus, and MSI win11 motherboards." I have an Asus motherboard ! I'll carry on using Win10 for a while.I think you can upgrade to Win11 and roll back to Win10 maybe 10 days later.I have asked the seller to update the description for possible lack of compatibility on some Win11 motherboards.EDIT .. The seller has mentioned some issues with Win11 now.

Unfortunately does not work
Easy to install, can see the green light on but will not detect any drives. Drivers from CD do not install.Do not know why, but will be returning, possibly for a different make of card.

Easy to install and flipping quick
Easy to install, is flipping quick (im driving 2 x 4k screens off it with no lag, via a Dell docking station), the other port goes into nas box - both USB-C . Chose the "USB C to USB C Cable, 20Gbps" type cable and works a charm on Windows10. Came with CD-Rom with the drivers for up to win11 and UNIX variants were not needed by win10. Comes if a generic box but who looks at that.

Confused by this card
Firstly, let's clarify the USB terminology:"USB 2.0" runs at 480 Mbps."USB 3.2 Gen 1" runs at 5 Gbps (10 x USB 2.0)"USB 3.2 Gen 2" runs at 10 Gbps (20 x USB 2.0)"USB 3.2 Gen 2x2" runs at 20 Gbps (40 x USB 2.0)I tried installing this on my HP 8000 Elite CMT tower system (built in 2009) and couldn't get the card to work above USB 2.0 speeds (according to the message given by an attached USB 3.2 Gen 1 device).I tried another USB 3.2 Gen 1 card from StarTech but with similar results. After much investigation, I concluded that my HP tower system cannot support this card, even though a computer with a PCIe 2.0 bus (with a throughput of 40 Gbps) should support this card.HP concluded that the card is incompatible with the computer without explaining why.The card looks great quality and ASMedia are a important supplier of drivers for these cards so I can only assume it's a problem with my hardware. Presumably if you have a newer computer then you'll get the benefit of it's much faster speeds. Good luck!

USB3 problems solved
My previous USB3 card fitted in the small motherboard PCI Express x 1 slot on the left of the picture and caused connection errors. Windows 10 reported it as only USB2 in error messages. This new card fitted in the rightmost PCIe 2.0 x 16_3 slot in the picture (bottom one as mounted in the PC case). It successfully connected to my 3 Insta360 cameras with no errors. This had been the biggest problem with the previous card, an Inateck KT5001 5 Ports USB 3.0 PCI Express Card.Very happy with this replacement. No drivers required for Windows10.
