Finally! Something that works!
I have been trying to find a way to use the Oculus Rift S on my Gaming Laptop that only has HDMI, the Rift has Display Port. But what an ordeal.... I bought two different brand HDMI to Display Port adapters, one was $68 and the other $89 and neither worked.... Then someone suggested this, since my Laptop has Thunderbolt USB C This should work, and it does! Even better than my desktop PC, Elite Dangerous boots up in less than 1/2 the time and the graphics are amazing! Now I can take my Rift to a friends house and use it with the laptop! When the Covid-19 lock-down is over that is...

Terrible Flickering, Causes OSX to Lock Up
Having a terrible time with flickering in the morning when the monitor comes out of sleep and everything is cold. It seems that once the dongle itself warms up, the flickering reduces/stops. Occasionally I'm finding that OSX won't wake up properly after connecting this adapter, however, and I have to manually hold the power button and restart. I just replaced this dongle with a full cable that's DP on one end, and USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 on the other, and it works without an issue. In particular, it appears that the connection on the computer side doesn't seat very well and it takes some jiggling/wiggling to get a clear picture that doesn't flicker.

Adapter that advertises USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4
Other adapters might also be able to do USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 but this is the only one I could find that advertises that capability (but it hasn't been DisplayPort certified by VESA). Sources of USB-C DisplayPort 1.4 include the USB-C port of Nvidia RTX graphics cards and Titan Ridge based Thunderbolt ports and docks (examples include GC-TITAN RIDGE and HP Thunderbolt Dock G2).Alternatives to this adapter include USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 (male) cables such as the cable from Moshi (bidirectional and DisplayPort certified by VESA). Where this adapter is useful is when you require a USB-C to Mini DisplayPort 1.4 solution. I have been unable to find such a cable, but this adapter with a DisplayPort 1.4 to Mini-DisplayPort cable should be sufficient.

Works perfectly with my Rift S and Asus laptop
wasn's 100% sure if this woold work with my laptop. It doesnt have a display port on my laptop, but theres a USB C port that is display port capable. Plugged the adapter in, plugged in my Rift S and worked without any messing around. Gets a little warm as others have stated but doesn't seem to be an issue as of yet.Equipment Used:------------------------------Oculus Rift SAsus GL731GTX 1060 TiUSB C with DP

Works great with Oculus Rift S on gaming laptop.
I purchased this product to use with my Oculus Rift S on my new gaming laptop (ASUS FX506IU) which has a USB-C port with DisplayPort 1.4 capabilities and it works great! The headset comes up as "Connected" much faster than it does on my PC and during gameplay I notice no difference whatsoever between my laptop and PC. From what I've seen this is one of the only adapters that seems to work for this headset, and for the price it seems like a pretty good deal! Highly reccomend for anyone in the same situation as me.
