Know your equipment!
This is a good product that works as it should. But! When plugged into my iPad, I am unable to hear/monitor my recordings, because, the speakers switch off when the jack socket is inserted. If I had remembered this I would have ordered the microphone socket to twin input.

just doesn't work.
I have a rode trs to trrs cable and that works connected my rode mic to my smart phoneSo I connect a separate trs to trs cable (also tested and also works independently) - from my rode mic to the female trs of this cable and into the trrs to my smart phone. I get no recorded sound on this.
