Received a faulty pedal, a pity
The form factor of this expression pedal is ideal, and the housing was a pleasant surprise, being sturdy and appearing well made. That’s why it’s more of a pity that it didn’t work. Plugged in to any of my modellers or exp capable pedals (Atomic Amplifire 6, various Keeley workstations, Line 6 HX stomp) it did nothing through the upper part of the sweep and made an odd pulsing noise or just cut out entirely (on the Modellers) at the bottom. Trying different TRS leads made no difference.Testing it with a multi-meter at the ends of the cable showed no changes in resistance until the very end of the pedal’s travel. I didn’t want to have to open a new device, so I sent it back and will spend an extra £10 on the Fender tread light.

Solid Exp Pedal
So here's a thing, I initially thought I had a faulty pedal and was all set for returning it, then has one last thought on trying it again, as didn't want to pay double for the Dunlop.I was looking to use this to control my HX Stomp via my Morningstar MC6 mk2. I was finding that whatever I assigned the Exp to, had a really poor sweep and wondered if it was a faulty pot inside, most of the command change occured within a few mm of travel and was pretty much useless.I was able to get the pedal working ok in the HX Stomp using a TS cable and assigning to EXP1. EXP1 uses Tip & Sleeve and EXP2 uses Ring & Sleeve.Reading through the manual for the Morningstar, it expects the Tip of the TRS to be attached to the wiper, whereas the Melo has the wiper attached to the Ring, so I desoldered them and swapped, to make it easier, I added some perf board as it's a board mounted pot (made by Alpha, which was reassuring).I'm sure I should add something about carrying out this work will void warranty and all that. Also, I occasionally build and mod pedals, so it was a simple change, so think wasn't a 'plug and play' experience, but hopefully this info is useful for someone looking to go down this route and have the Melo as viable alternative to the Dunlop. I suppose if I really wanted to, I could have made the change switchable, though I can't imagine wanting to undo it in a hurry.

Not plug and play for guitar
The expression pedal looked good quality and it came in nice packaging. I really have nothing against the pedal for piano/keyboard but it was advertised as wah/volume for guitar as well. The trouble is there is no line out. You’ll need some sort of midi controller in your chain to use this for guitar/bass. It’s not a “true” plug-and-play guitar pedal. The fact that you have to buy an additional component raises the cost to make it less competitive than an Ernie ball or Boss pedal which are larger more sturdier and I have more confidence in.Buy this if you want a good quality keyboard pedal but pony up some extra dough and buy another pedal if you want something for guitar/bass.

Not a bad pedal
Connected to my HX Stomp for exp control. The annoying thing is it hits 100% about 75% through the sweep, so we’ll before the toe is fully depressed. Makes handling really difficult!
