Mine looked very new when it arrived, I wouldn't know it was refurbished. The display is gorgeous with vivid colors and wide view angle. The speakers are also surprisingly good, way better than any USB travel speakers I've ever used. To my surprise, this laptop runs web browsers with ease despite the Celeron processor and rather low RAM. I highly recommend this laptop if you don't mind ChromeOS. As for me, I need a laptop that would run Linux, because I intended to use it as my mobile software development machine, but to my disappointment, Linux (Ubuntu 16.04) did not work well on this machine, so I returned it. Even though it could not do what I want it to do, this laptop has a lot of good quality, and would serve very well if you use it for its intended purposes (such as document editing, web browsing, playing videos, etc.).

Sharp edges on the brushed metal case.
Sharp screen. Very slim. The keyboards a little above average. The case has sharp edges, set it on table at a slight angle and you will scratch it. My other chromebook had a plastic case , It looked cheap but did not scratch. I don't like charging jack on the right side (it seems always in the way) but that is a personal preference. A little hard to open and battery life doesn't seem up to snuff. All said this could be better but the price is right.

Great machine, but needs better Chrome OS office compatible software
You get a lot of machine for your money, especially if you buy it refurbished from the Acer factory store. The machine looks a lot more expensive than it is. The Ram and hard storage are more generous than a lot of other chromebooks. Don't forget to apply for the extra 100 GB on Google Drive that came with my machine. The near instant startup is a great feature. Battery life on the Acer 14 is good, but not nearly the 11 hours advertised.Beautiful large screen and sharp picture - great for movies and videos. Sound quality is OK, but the volume is not loud enough in a noisy environment or to fill a room.My main problem is not with the machine itself but rather the limitations of the Chrome OS. It does not have a decent word processor of its own.Chrome compatible versions of Google Docs and Word Online are not capable of working with the MS Word tracking features, which makes it impossible to use the Chromebook to work properly with Word files which have tracked edits. This is a big problem for someone who wants to use a Chromebook as a more affordable replacement for a full fledged business laptop. There are a few other things this machine could use. The lack of a slot for a micro SD card is a nuisance. You can use a flash drive instead, but why waste a scarce USB port? It would also be nice if this Chromebook could recognize a plug and play external DVD drive. Also, the procedures for working on documents with this machine offline are absurdly complex and confusing. All of your files have a tendency to wind up getting dumped in the Chromebook's download directory. The system needs a more flexible and easier to use file manager. The Acer 14 Chromebook is slated by Google for an official software upgrade to make it compatible with Android apps via the Google Play store. That should make this machine much more versatile. But that still will not solve the problem of the lack of a fully functional Chromebook app to substitute for the MS Office suite.By the way, if anyone from Google or Microsoft is reading this, please give the Chrome OS the respect it deserves and stop choking it with crippled apps. I would be willing to pay a reasonable amount, say $25-$50, for such a full featured Chromebook Office suite, and I bet a lot of other people with machines as capable as the Acer 14 would do so as well. The Acer 14 Chromebook gives us a peak at just how useful these Chrome OS devices could be if the OS and the apps can catch up to the capabilities of the hardware.

Worst bluetooth device ever...
Bluetooth constantly disconnects with any device that it connect to...streaming videos quality is spotty at times. Again bluetooth refuse to recognize the paired devices, has to perform Powerwash (factory reset) multiple time to get it going again. Disappointment.

I really enjoyed using this Chromebook until I tried to play
I really enjoyed using this Chromebook until I tried to play .MOV / QuickTime video files recorded on my iPhone and found they were not compatible and couldn't be played. Very disappointing.

this unit has been fantastic. Now if they would just flip the switch ...
Bought this as an emergency purchase. My daughters MacBook Pro went down on her right before finals. She used it with absolutely no problems at all. Setup was a breeze and it works flawlessly. I have since replaced her computer with a new MacBook and I use this as a secondary computer in the house. Being steeped in the Google ecosytem, this unit has been fantastic. Now if they would just flip the switch so I can have android apps on it as promised......

Great value.
After a few years, its still working great for my dad. No more viruses and long battery life. Just wish google chromebooks made it more easier to play some video files. This was refubished but looked and works like new. Great value.

The only thing I don't like is the chromebook missing an ethernet port
Start up and run faster than a Window PC. The Chrome book did not slowing down even with 10 tabs open and Netflix running. Mainly use for surfing the internet, youtube and Netflix. The only thing I don't like is the chromebook missing an ethernet port, so I have to buy an USB adapter for wired internet connection.
